That still has a plastic pawl.i stated a couple of post ago gizmo motors has rcmk metal pawl pull starts for like $10 buy 4 for the price of the blingy one.i bought 3 and still using my 1st one over 1 1/2 years and still works fine...

Yes, I know, that's definetely one option. was just curious if the metal body is more than bling.

metal pawl

The metal pawl is definitely more durable than the plastic one but it can and will damage the flywheel if not used properly. It will chew up the location where the two engage and wear down the flywheel to the point where it will not engage.

That's the key word, right there! The proper technic for any pull start (plastic or metal pawl) is to pull slowly until it engages, then pull harder to start.

I always do that, did so from day one. However there are some marks on the stock plastic pawl and it's not engaging like it used to. This "might damage flywheel" issue got me thinking though :) )

I find the Zenoah pull starts good

The plastic pawl will not damage the flywheel. The pawl itself will wear and eventually no longer engage. Pawls are easier and cheaper to replace than flywheels.

Seeing how the rcmk pull starts are not in stock anywhere and the CY pull start being on DOTD at DDM, I pulled the trigger on that. For 11 bucks, it's worth a try.

Went out today with a friend with a Baja 5SC SS, we were both (especially him) completely amazed at how much faster the Dunerunner was, there was absolutely no contest. The cat was dominating in grip, acceleration, speed, handling and of course noise :) )

Even funnier, we gathered quite a crowd (12-15 kids and 3 grownups) and they were obviously not RC people so the large HPI writing on the Baja meant nothing to them and all the kids were going "uuuu, I want the blue one" :) )

Yeah, I love the tarmac busters, if only they'd last longer... I think I'm gonna try a set of slicks for my next tires, maybe they'll last longer. I really don't want to keep getting new tires every 5-6 tanks :) I guess that's the price of the jetpro and the 8k clutch

For hard surface all tires are doomed. They are super light and fast. Anything with weight is a drop in performance . Longer wearing tire will be heavier and not be as quick.

Oh well we all have problems. Keep rolling!

nice running man!, thats a sweet corner action spot , those slicks are gonna let u hit that corner with more throttle. cool stuff
