Yeah but this is a hostile "upgraded" spur , supposedly they are very very strong, if it continues to strip obviously I'll go metal, just giving it one more chance , if it fails again then ddm steel gear will come into place ?

This is the bad pin , that's after 50 mins ,or around there, run time

I bought the pins and boots, so I'll grease it up (think they are failing cuz of the lack of grease) and if they continue to fail,I'll just buy the flm 5mm shafts and grind out the cups to accept em.

I like the make your own approach. Anyone can buy a solid rig, few can make one. Does anyone else see this thread up top and immediately wonder what Z broke this time? ?

Careful grinding. Heat can destroy the temper and ruin the cups

Learned that doing a regrind on a knife. Would no longer hold a edge, had to get heat treated again. doesn't take much to ruin it. If you do it Z, keep a cup of water close and dunk it every few seconds, and never push hard enough to get it red

Only have to grind a mm or so our of each side so I doubt it would get that hot but I'll take note and pay attention to the heat if I need to go thru with grinding them

They will be heat treated and rather difficult to grind. doesn't take much to ruin it. It can be done, just be careful. Otherwise you'll be updated this thread yet again with damage?

Yeah I'd how my bits will like that steel lol. I would need to check this, if the balls on the 5mm shafts are bigger cuz if so then idk if even grinding would work.

Just buy 2 titanium 4mm drill bits and nip off enough for pins. Ive had 2 in my mtxl for years. They never break.

Ok , maybe that should be my next move instead of grinding. I shouldn't have bought the ddm pins and just bought ti drill bits but oh well.

I'd stay away from the black magic gear sets. They have some serious weight to them. I'd either go blackbone, or IF you do get the Blackmagic I have seen a few drill holes into them similar to the blackbone to lighten them out

I have a ddm spur on the sx5? the heavy ......sure but bullet proof ??
