Looking for suggestions on where to spend my $$$

With 3k to spare, I'd take 1500.00 and invest in AT&T on Monday morning. I'd use the remaining 1500.00 to close out the weekend with hookers and blow.

Looks like you have decided on the 5ive T. If a buggy is more your thing, this one has piqued my interest. Supposedly, it is made by the designer of the Losi DBXL, only better.

For upgrades, exhaust and intake. I wouldn't get an outerwears for the stock intake. Or you'll end up like me with a stock intake in the parts bin with a useless outerwears. Look into a Stu's or TR air box.

A 30N body would also be one of my first purchases for the 5ive T. Until you get one I'd line the inside of the rear fender wells with a couple of layers of duct tape to protect the paint on the lexan body.
My cart at the DDM website is really starting to add up. Thanks for the intake suggestion. I elected for Stu’s based on a few readings. Hopefully it’s an easy installation.

30N body is siiiiick! Definitely picking up one of these bad boys too. I might have to spread out the purchases to not raise any flags with the wife.

Stu's is very easy to install.

LOL. A few guys here have things shipped to work. I don't know how they get the parts in the house. Everything I have ordered comes in a big ass box.

Here's a tip: Get Mrs. Serial hobbyists in to the hobby. Let her drive the truck, if she gets the itch and wants one, then you can get double the upgrades.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Range, reliability, Support. Nothing says this for land based rc like a futaba radio. There are others, but none I trust on a 1/5 scale. Spektrum just give too many issues with kill switches, and they like to change designs and not have the product completely ready for the demand of market. I do like flysky radios, (gt3c) but the range isnt the greatest.
The Losi website suggests a DSMR compatible transmitter; will this Futaba work without issues?http://www.davesmotors.com/Futaba-FUTK3200-3PV-3-Channel-T-FHSS-Telemetry-System-Radio-System.html

@Serial hobbyists the MCD W5 is a serious track car, with little to no aftermarket support. I won't recommend against it. I'm sure it's actually a very nice piece of kit.

That being said, you need to answer some questions for yourself as to what you want in a large scale car. Do you want 4WD or 2WD. What kind of environment will you be running? Will you eventually want to add more power? Do you like to tinker and add bits to your car?

The HPI, Losi and to a lesser extent the Vekta have a very expansive aftermarket and are better known to bashers and the recreational crowd. MCD and other models are more suited to the EU track circuit and simply don't enjoy the kind of aftermarket the others do.

The HPI Baja is discontinued, as Z mentioned, but you can still get them New In Box on the open market. For example: http://www.davesmotors.com/HPI-115484-Racing-1-5-Baja-5B-Kraken-Sidewinder-X5-Gas-RTR.html

If you'd rather go 4WD, get the Losi 5iveT 2.0: http://www.davesmotors.com/Losi-LOS...le-Short-Course-Truck-Gas-BND-Grey-Blue-White

MCD doesn't have aftermarket support because MCD produces cars with literally every option part themselves. It's like the old Losi 8ight. That had no aftermarket support because TLR made everything and it came out the box with everything. It was still immensely popular. As long as you can get MCD parts you're golden and no reason not to buy one. I wouldn't get one for bashing or even entry level racing as they aren't that robust but even in the US, they pretty much clean house in every series they can enter and the cars themselves are a real step above anything else unless you start looking at Elcon etc.

Yea... I think I was in awe of the MCD and naturally gravitated towards it. From what I’ve read/saw online, the Losi 5t 2.0 is highly recommended so Ive settled on the Losi with a couple mods that were recommended on this forum.
I’m currently figuring out if everything I have in my cart is perfectly compatible before I click ‘purchase’.
I’ll make sure to post pictures ASAP

you’ll be happy with your decision. Maybe put up a photo of your shopping cart and people here will steer you in the right direction

I'd go with a ddm lipo or a killer rc ?over rhe stock reaction one?
and a crazy stu filter over the rb one?..i run a stu on my 5ive?
everything else is spot on imo ?
Cool. Didn’t know that was stock. Ill give ddm a try.
With crazy stu intake, I read that modifications to the cage are required to fit it properly. Is this true?
I want some time with the unit before I started cutting OEM parts and the RBI intake seems really easy.

no all u need to do is chop enuff off the stu filter to clear the cage as i did with mine?no cage cutting involved ?
i have pics of what i did if u need a guide/reference?
and the reaction lipos come stock with alot of losi 1/5th 's?..
mine sticks out as i run a reed valve engine ?so my carb is out more then urs will b with the g32?my stu sits on the cage nicely ?
plus the position of the stu means it can suck in cooler air from the front window area ?rather then the warmer air beside the engine like most other filters do?

Damn! That’s a sick ride.
Thanks for the input, the modifications seems easy enough.
+1 big overpriced gimmick
I’m glad that I asked first then. Lol

Dare I ask how much you’ve put into it? Or have you stopped counting for the fear of knowing the truth??? Lol
?......prob sits at around £2500+ish give or take......i paid £650 delivered
for it in pretty much stock trim...heres the sellers pics jus before i bought ?
it was brand new pretty much
bog stock all bar the pipe and servos?
I've seen peeps pay 650 +/- for used abused 5ive's ☹ so imo i robbed him ??
