I recently fell in love with RC cars via YouTube and pulled the trigger on a DBXL 2.0.

I bought one of these “bundles” that comes with a spektrum smart battery and charger from one of the large RC sites.

After receiving the car charging the batteries and excitedly putting them in the car for my first run, the connection would not fit.

Turns out the battery they sold me actually comes with an IC3 connector but the car is IC5. Battery serial SPMX50004S100HT

I can send back the batteries and order the correct ones however the recommended spektrum batteries are sold out till end of May everywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions to get me up and running sooner?

I did consider changing the IC5 connector to an IC3 on the ESC, but frommy research may have issues with the cable thickness and IC3

Big thanks in advance guys, after spending a serious amount of money this is very disheartening

Thanks for your speedy response.

This is great information and gives me a bit more confidence with just changing the connector on the ESC.

Learn to solder.

I did and now feel more confident using a soldering iron, I see why its a necessary skill when into RC

I soldered the 5MM tube/bullet connector directly onto the ESC cables. All is working and the car is amazing, very fast and needs more space than I expected.

Thanks for all the responses, much appreciated.

Note: I have probably voided my warranty by doing this, but I’m going to mod this car so not a concern for me.

Good stuff. This hobby is a good one!

Wouldnt worry too much about voiding your warranty for soldering on a connector. Its standard practice really. I run 8mm castle connectors on my few e machines. So I chop off the crap I don't want and solder on what I do want.

I didn’t read all the replies...however if your new to the RC life just simply order an femaleEC3 to make EC5 adapter there won’t be any loss of power your bashing not short course racing, it’ll be perfect with no worries....search Ebay
