After being out for an hour in a grassy field, the copper screen mesh I made to keep grass/debris out of the flywheel and compacting near the coil worked. I took the head cover off to confirm no grass was near the coil, and maybe a clipping here and there but that was it.

@AnubisBC also has the v2 reed motor??

Yep, got it clogged up with grass underneath last run and didn't cook it. I was even running lean that day due to some sort of blockage in the carb (glad I caught that one in time!). The design of the case kept the grass from infiltrating the flywheel and clogging up the ignition, just like a mesh mod will. I agree with Crucial. I think his issue was due to more factors than just grass.

If it is underlying, I hope it doesn't rear it's ugly head again, now that he has a new top end ?

After a few tanks pull the head and see if you're getting minor wear marks. Hopefully you catch it early if you do have a issue.
Oh I sprayed her out with wd40 and drained it 4 times looking for anything to fall out. I didn't find anything. I will do an inspection after a couple tanks and let you guys know tho??
