I’m fairly familiar with the basics of engines but I’m learning that the amount of modifications I’d like to do in the future are going to require a lot more knowledge. Are there any good videos or guides to complete engine tear downs and rebuilds? Drivetrain would also be helpful. The more in depth, the better.

Use the search feature of the forum. There are countless engine builds, full chassis builds etc. There are so several stickies in the tuning and engine section you can read up on. If theres anything specific you get hung up on let us know. Well get you sorted.
I’ve been watching rebuild videos for a few hours now. They don’t seem that complicated really other than a couple things. Like I saw one video where the guy mentioned the height of this little part inside the carb while he was rebuilding it. Haven’t seen anybody else mention it. He used this little metal W shaped gauge to make it the right height. Also the gapping of the flywheel magnet. I also never see anybody really mention how to go about deciding proper gear ratios for a given motor.

These are simple beasts, they have their nuances but once you figure them out its cake.

Your setting the metering lever in the carb. Its arguably the most important thing that needs done when rebuilding a carb.

Fly wheel magnet is easy, stick a business card between it and the coil. Let the coil drop down on the card and magnet. Tighten screws up.
Gearing is a bit challenging. With more power you can run the higher gears. Its normally a trial and error kind of thing. Hear it too high, and it will go fast, after you wait, for what seems like forever to get there. Too low, and it's an uncontrollable pooch. Superfast, tire ripping launch and no top end. Fortunately there are enough guys in here with about whatever combo of engine and rig that can steer you in the right direction.
I'm planning on a basic write up of enigine porting. But if you look in the dbxl section at my "tear the old girl down" thread you'll get to see me pop a g320 apart, five it a mild port job and put it back together.

hi Seandonato73
many thanks for your reference
No problem, that's what were here for.
