I'm not finding it to be a very enjoyable hobby. Seriously, where does the fun start?
I've worked auto repair for decades. And Aircraft maintenance before that.

for some it may be more enjoyable than others if it's not for you then it's not for you ?‍♂️ I find driving my rigs fun, you know the speed and jumping. Wrenching Is fun for.me too, idk why but it is.

don't know what your after mate... sometimes it just don't work out as planned. I know when I first got my dbxl I was ready to toss it in a few times, but i got her worked out. Shes been more or less trouble free, aside from maintaining it and a few issues caused by my poor driving.

I really don't get why this is enjoyable. Not a bit. Anymore. If I look at what have spent vs. run time (normal for aircraft)

This is my second go around, and I should have learned my lesson the first time .

Everything?? buying parts searching for them wrenching driving filming talking absolute ?? here it's all a gas???
But maybe time for a new toy eh?‍♂️
Actually, I've also been putting together a MT410 project. At least that will work when I want it to. (Heavily modified with M2C chassis)
Based on ALL of my past RC time:
My Teknos always show up for work.
Traxxas Revo absolutely works when any other nitro vehicle fails.
Gas powered 1/5 scale is like having Pinhead from Hellraiser run your social life.

Edit:

The Losi Muggy sucked pretty hard too. Left the hobby for a while after that one.

If it's gone it's gone, move on to the next thing or whatever makes you happy. I don't know the specifics of your case but I have noticed consistent running of 1/5 scale seem to be a weird balance of running fixing running fixing again then more fixing.
For some building is the pleasure part, others running. Sometimes it's a life stage thing. I hope you find your passion, whatever it may be.

That's pretty cool, thanks man.

Outta all the Rc’s I’ve ever owned the traxxas slash 4x4 was one of thee sturdiest Rc’s ever. That thing never ever broke on me and when it did. It was super cheap to fix

my 5iveT comes in second place for durability. They are tough and take a beating like no other 5th scale I’ve owned. my only complain with them is they are super expensive to buy fix and upgrading is on its own level of expensive ??‍♂️

my only advice is prep ur 5th scale for storage and store it away... maybe a year or two from today you’ll get the bug again. And all you’ll have to do is mix some fuel dust off your 5th scale and go have fun ??‍♂️??

If it wasn't for Traxxas i'd have left the hobby for ever and not looked back. I know other more serious guys in the hobby and they still highly respect Traxxas.

Everyone has discouraged me from doing anything with the rig other than set it aside. Yeah, I'm really frustrated with it. I've made my living swapping engines out of cars and putting in Flight Recorders of US Goverment Aircraft, and I'm not new to turning wrenches.
But, this thing really has pissed me off.

Thanks everyone.

You can do an electric conversion on it or let me hold it and see if i can get it running for ya. We can meet in the middle somewhere. Your not too far. I promise I won't keep it.

One thing I've learned over the years us never look at the money aspect. It sucks the fun right out of it. In a hobby like this, you'll never get back what you put in (money wise, the fun aspect pays me back).

If it makes you feel any better I’m even worse at not learning my lesson. This is my 3rd time at this, waiting on my backordered 5ivet to be delivered at the end of the month!
Seems to be one of those hobbies that I can only tolerate for a year or two tops, and it was due to these 1/5 gassers that I quit the last two times. I wish I kept my 5ive and tools from 8 years ago, would’ve saved me a bunch of money. I won’t be making the same mistake when I eventually get sick and tired of the hobby again, I’m keeping everything this time around :)
