so im itchy for a bigger (hp) engine...obr gives the option of methonal...whats the jury have to say about meth vs gas in these engines

Thank Z (y) .. since i consume maybe a gallon or less a month I think it would be worth my while for increased power...and when these engine guys give power numbers is this with or without a tuned pipe on it? Esp quoted 6 3/4hp for the race ported head...olimat has 2.95 stock and 4.34hp with pipe on a stock g320...i understand we're not putting a car on a dyno. I'm just trying to understand getting a base line to increase upon..from what i read on methonal it has lower energy density so i would assume the engine needs to be tweaked to push the fuel harder? Plus carst hat run on it get half the mpg so i can see more fuel is burned

You will use about double the amount of fuel you normally consume, cutting down your run times and you will go thru gas faster. The HP figures are with a pipe. Atleast the obr ones. Also , with methanol, it's a good idea to purge the engine after every run (if you aren't going to run it the next day), becuase methanol attracts moisture and moisture will corrode and fek up your engine. Aswell as, the methanol will destroy the diaphragms in ur carb if it sits. Few things to keep in mind. Personally I don't think it's worth it for just bashing. Drag Racing maybe
Plus methanol Is feking expensive if you have to order it, ps you will have to use a methanol compatible oil too (klotz sueprtechniplate)

I'd say bartolone racing, the o'neil bros and rooster tail (few others) have figured out how to get virtually every ounce of power out of these tiny motors. Your dealing with ccs here...like double digits. Barely lol...it's not a liter bike that going to absolutely scream. It's as sean said a hopped up weed wacker

Timing is locked because the design was never changed from the weedwacker days. It's easy to change it, been saying this for years. Ditch the flywheel key. Its sole purpose is for timing. The flywheel retention relays on the tapered shaft. About half my saws run keyless. This ain't a Briggs and stratton. You should also use a degree wheel to find stock timing. It doesn't take much movement to change a degree or two.
Methonal uses approximately 33% more fuel for the same power output. It has a lower energy density then gasoline.it burns a lot cooler, allowing advanced timing to be run, as well as some more exotic fuel mixes. When my dad ran unlimited offshore he ran methonal, nitro over a direct nitrous injected fuel system. On gas we were over heating the engine badly. Methonal solved our heat issue, but took major work to compensate for the fuel burned during a run. After run treatments should be seriously considered, amd fogging the engine before any storage to help mitigate engine issues.

@SD73,

?, I was going to reply but saw he found the previous threads so I spared myself some time by not having to reply.?
I had a feeling you would reply thus also sparing me once again....????
Chop chop, better get your game face on mate. It's a lot of time to answer all these questions because you wont chime in?
