Lightened flywheel

Ok, first I will get a feel for the g320 stock, and I might self lighten 🤔
best way is get it properly machined ,
needs to be kept as balanced as possible (y) ,
i self lightened mine , set up in small mill so it was dead flat and machined equal across the fins,
i left inner fins alone for the most part bar a couple of mm and removed most of the outer fins ,
 
No cooling issues?

obvousley coolings reduced with removing fins, but trial and error tbh, thats why my g320 is only mildly lightened at first,
i will try a heavily lightened one on g320 when feel a bit braver :ROFLMAO:,
26cc one aint so bad cos i don't really care what happens to it, its only a 26 2 bolt (y):D,

Cool, I know things are kinds tight in the l5b so may be a bad idea for that rig 🤔

if you have an old engine that still runs half decent but you don't mind if it goes pop then thats the best way dude (y) (y) ,

fruitbat kev on here used to do lightened flywheels , but that was a fair while ago,
he's over here in the uk though,

Nah it’s brand new, maybe like 2 tanks through it 😅, Baja is nice and open tho, so I may give it a go on that
 
Adding FWW (flywheel weight) on mx bikes is a common thing for enduro racers. Ive tried them and like every mod they offer pros and cons. So hear me out before you bash me for an irrelevant post as just take me experiences and reverse everything i say about running a "lightened" FW. Basically adding weight = added spinning inertia which slows down rev speed but adds sustained inertia. Think of it as you are racing across the pavement and suddenly drive into mud. If you have a heavier fw your engine rpms will tend to stay high and not drop. If you have a lightened FW your rpms could drop and you get an engine bog. Lightened FWs will rev out quickly to peak rpms. So in an ideal light load terrain the vehicle with a lighter fw will accelerate quicker than a vehicle with a heavier fw. My opinion is that for a typical basher you will have the best overall performance with a standard fw. If you race, and your looking for very quick off corner acceleration the a lighter fw might help.

No, spinning mass. The more mass spinning the harder it is to stop but takes more power and longer to spool up. Exact opposite for light mass, takes little power and spins up fast, but doesn't have the mass to carry though.
 
no, I get the reciprocating mass. I just thought the effects would be similar? Wouldn’t actually change hp or torque. Still wrong?
