Hi!

I´m working on my barn find baja.

I need some advice regarding the gearbox/diff.

I don't want to change parts that is ok so i have done my best with close up photos.

The welded parts is now question about :) But need advice regarding the other components

The diff itself have plenty of resistance when i turn it, not a load...but some. Is this normal? I can also hear i minor "click noice" I think the tooth on the sprockets looks fine?

Op:
what you have is a lower quality clone rc.
Parts availability are very limited or hard to find.
Before you put money into your rc, search around first to get an idea of what's available - if needed. Yes,its exciting to get a new rc but without a little research first it can become a frustrating ordeal and money pit.
If you have most of the parts then maybe give rebuilding it a shot. Some models have parts that are nterchangeable with similar models but you'll have to research that aspect depending on what's needed.
Then you'll have to decide if you want to continue it or cut your losses.
Good luck, ebay sometimes has some parts but.......😉

No offense but id probably cut your loss on that hsp as no reputable hobby shop would carry parts for that thing.

HSP parts are available on ebay
Just type in HSP and the part number.
You can also find them under Redcat using the same part number.
I have 2 Dunerunners and apart from installing a Zen in one (operator error} I've had no problems with them or parts availability.
If you need a manual let me know.

replace the bearings
that would be the best starting point, do they spin freely?

No offense taken :)

I bought it for 50$. I have found a lot of parts on Ali Express and Ebay for this car.

Nope, the diff gear doesn't spin freely. I have found a hole assembly with bearings for 35$, i think i´ll go for that

Thats uplifting to hear, some hope :)

So you haven't had any problems with the plastic parts like the center diff mounts? Or have you upgraded for alu ones?

So, the redcat and the hsp is the same car, just rebranded? And the rovan is also a clone. And the hpi is the real deal?

I have the instruction manual, must say, not so bad.

Bought it for 50 bucks so i can spend some on spares. I have found parts for rebuilding the drivetrain. So i´ll think i will go for it :)

HSP are the manufacturer and rebrand for Redcat.
The HSP has some ally bits ( shock mounts etc ) and runs dog bones on the front instead of CVs and is better than the Redcat in general.
Mine are both stock as far as the drive train goes.
The Zen 29 is running a Jetpro rear pipe.
The 25 still had the stock can on it when I got it so I threw a cheap KM Ghost pipe on it and it's heaps better.
KM and Rovan are clones of the HPI.
Their parts aren't interchange able with your car.
