so my son has a baja 5B 36cc with 1191 carb.
recently we changed oil brands and now having issues with running. still running 25:1 and I have been through the book with adjusting carb twice.....I start out with 1 1/4 LOW and 2 1/4 HIGH. no matter what way I go it will stall or not run to not run right at all. when you get on the throttle it acts like its loading up. when it does start out and run WOT when you lift it stalls out or acts like it loads up again. as I said I have gone both directions with adjustments with no luck....Tried a different 1191 carb and no change.
I switched from over the counter 2-stroke to Maxima super M smokeless blend 2t 2-stroke. has anyone had issues with running this??
this is the plug...

the 1191 is the same carb as the 1107 mate (y),
base settings are low 1 3/8 and high 1 7/8 out from fully closed, start from there and hopefully you will be fine,

I'll give that a try tomorrow after work...

It may have 10 to 12 tanks on it
tried those setting with new plug and no change..... I noticed while rotating over with no air filter it's puffing out the carb as well.... not a lot run time so shouldn't be ring issue but ive been wrong before...... i would guess 12 maybe 13 tanks through it.

It's a 2 stroke you lose a bit to atmosphere due to the lack of valves. I went one race with my esp34 and I had less than a tank on it. I just put a new piston and ring on it because it's a 2 stroke and i want my stuff in the best running condition. If you having issues it's time to take it apart and read the parts and gaskets. I had an air leak on my last race and it ran lean but ran great. I saw my cylinder gasket was starting to let go by where the oil sat from where the head should sit. My carb is a regular 1107 with no throttle shaft bearings and it was catching dust. So I replaced all of my gaskets and wenr to a bearing throttle shaft carb along with piston and ring and im golden with great color on my plug. With the amount of fuel you have through your engine it might be time for a freshen up.

Thats not a lot of fuel through an engine.... how does it pull over? Are you able to pick it up by the pull start cord? Should fall slowly if compression is decent. Better yet is if you have a compression gauge. Need a small engine specific one, has the check valve in the plug adapter. Not 100% nessisary to have though. Spit back is normal on a piston port engine as well... wouldn't be too terribly worried about that. Why did you change oil?(not the issue just curious) Is the plug wet or not after starting attempts?

The plug doesn't really look wet. the pull on the crank is an easy start. I checked tonight and my snap-on comp gauge will not fit. smh
So i need to purchace one. This is my youngest sons buggy. my oldest son wanted to try this oil in hopes of helping our motors. I'm wondering about switching back to see if that helps.....this issue popped od after the switch. this is advertised as smokeless oil......it smokes in three other engines

These engines shouldn't be smoking. Possibly a bit when they are cold, but definatly not once warmed up if tuned properly.
Its just a little adapter snap-on sells separately. Or at least it was a separate purchase when I bought my kit. Pain in the butt...
I don't think it's the oil, I just wondered why you changed brands.

My oldest son wanted to make sure we took care of the motors. I built all our own full size race engines and took very good care of them and it showed in victory lane. I was never one that had good luck with these little motors weed eaters chain saws etc. So wanted to try this oil and i'm mixed only because it looks like to much oil or the wrong oil is building up on the plug....i've tried tuning. A different carb and no air filter....at times it sounds and runs like SBC with retard timing....
I would like to see some pics of a normal plug for some of there engines......ready plugs isn't rocket science I get that however I'd like to see one from one of these.

Yeah, I'm one of the ones that runs pump hi test and 40 to 1 with whatever fd rated oil I can get handy. I have too many 2 strokes ro play around with different fuels for different engines. Purge with canned fuel for storage and fog the engine.
And I agree with @Clubin it's not the oil, I just wondered why you switched brands.

when we were racing go-karts I would fog the engine after every night of racing and always rotated to TDC....we had four stroke flate head motors on alcohol. your fogging with 2-stroke i'm sure.

i would go through everything. tank breather ok? servos moving normally, adjusted properly? air leak somewhere? air leak on lines? air filter clogged? gaskets ok? the plugs ngk not no name brand? motor suck in dust from anywhere? (this will have eaten your piston and cylinder) try running with the choke on? nice consistent white/blue spark? head clogged with grass and overheated and died? both carbs don't have leaks on the throttle shaft? the hpi baja motor manual is a must have. it's not the oil that did it, that's good oil, and smokeless still smokes in my expierence. if you do everything you can think of (and you know what you're talking about if you have snap on tools and racing engines) and no improvement i'd start thinking about a new piston and cylinder. i've had several top ends go on me for whatever reason. 36cc, is it a rovan? welcome to the world of gas engines, is why i run electric now. gas is cooler, but has extra 10 systems that can go wrong and are hard to diagnose lol.
