Teamchrome...Glad you got out...Never did get above 40 here....
projected forecast is 65*degree's Tue.....So In all that will work for me better....
So I will keep ya all informed on the new marine engine.......
There are some people here in the forum....Many have helped with the firehammer project
to see a great work of art now......All Replies Welcome....Slawhammer.........

Hey guys I forgot to show the new addition to the Baja.. I might try it with the Hammer later..
Shock limiting cables.. Keeps the shocks from droping to far and botoming out.
Worked great evan after todays bash.
I have them set to stay just below leval when fully extended.

Fantastic idea! I like how it looks too.

Couldn't you just put some small pieces of fuel tubing around the shafts inside the shock bodies?

I have to admit, your idea looks much cooler! Plus I guess you could remove them if you wanted to, OK nevermind... Your idea is better!

Fuel tubing on the shaft would prevent the shock from compressing. This keeps it from overextending.

Thats right..
I thought about the fuel tube idea.
I had this as a idea when I saw someone has made a really nice.. (and $$$) set they sell...http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.5572/.f

So I did a search on HPI BAJA FORUM and found someone else had already done it this way.
So its not my original idea.. I thought it was.

Your idea is much more, how should I say it.....affordable to me. I really like Lunatik's set up, but boy oh boy, let someone else pay 170 bucks. I see ideas "rehashed" in the rc car magazines on a monthly basis for the last 20 years. I'm always amazed at how many of the same things I have seen over and over.

This will save someone some dogbones!

Hey teamchrome..I seen that in the sister forum...And now like csp says there for sale on
DDM Looks like you used wire?
I thought about small braided stuff my self.....But I run pretty much flat ground
Not much in to jumping.....I may now that I have this together very well....
Good info...Slawhammer............

Fuel tubing on the shock shaft, INSIDE of the shock body... It will essentially make the shock shaft shorter (the piston will not be able to reach the bottom of the body, because it will hit the tubing) ...less upward travel.

Fuel tubing on the bottom of the shaft, OUTSIDE the shock body will keep it from bottoming out. ...Less downward travel.

If you can see what I am trying to say.. I hope this makes sense..

But, the idea of the straps is a better setup, because if you want to remove the limiting straps it's just a few turns of a screwdriver away. With the aforementioned idea, you have to remove and disassemble the shocks, remove the tubing, refill shocks, reassemble, then put back on the car... The straps are a much better idea...

Trip..

I think you are crazily addicted to using fuel tubing for everything. I think you think that fuel tubing is good on everything, much like people that use duct tape to repair everything.

Just kidding, and it makes sense now! Your fuel tubing suggestion on dogbones to make them easier to see if thrown was a great idea. :)

Also, as long as you don't add "my style" to the end of everything, I'm cool with it! ;)

I have used fuel tubing on my nitro shocks ..in the past....
I will see how these new shocks work out...I didn't cover the springs yet..
That does help from getting crap on the shaft..being sucked into the shock.....
I did fire up the firehammer for 5 minutes....Put it on the ground for a bit...
all those rear tires do is spin for about 15 feet...lightly on the throttle....
I am going to switch back to the firehammer rear tires..tonight and leave the baja front
and see how it handles in the morning or maybe noon time.....
Time to getter done...broke in.......That engine will eat up those termac....

I like the idea of puting the tubing on the bottom of the exposed shock shaft..
Might try it.
That will keep the bottom of the shock body from contacting the spring cup/retainer.

Hey now!!! Fuel tubing is an amazing thing, It can be used for many things... Drinking straws, whips to pleasure the lil lady, I.V. drug users, sling shot bands, tourniquets, spit wad shooter (also works around corners) I guess you could use it for fuel tubing, if you had too... ...Don't even get me started on duct tape.

...And that just "My Style"

Hey trip...will just nick name you hosehead.....
.........And that would be my style................Slawhammer....................

Ok guys..I had the firehammer out today for 15 to 20 minutes....
running from zero to 1/2 throttle....now that thing spins the tires like crazy,,
ya have to gentle squeeze the trigger....At 1/2 throttle it came up slide on the wing for about 3 feet...chewed it up a bit....not thru the 1st tank yet....All I can say it will
be a power house when the engine is broke in....I just blipped the throttle quick
and it spun around like now..no hesatation...,....Only way I can use those baja wheels
on the rear is ease in to the throttle....or there will be no rear tires....
I can say it would lay a good 10 foot of black rubber......
Engine did not seem to be hot...But I did not have the beetle shell on....
I will have better idea once the engine is broke in.....So far I am pleased with this
set up....engine & RN Pipe......But to be fair I should try the DDM Dom Pipe
to see which makes better power.....My guess would be the RN Pipe.....
I will take some video ..once the engine is broke in and ready to rip.....
Thinking maybe 1 more full tank of fuel....I don't know for sure...Some engine's
come around quicker....This part is new to me on these for breaking in
Hope to get out again in the morning...weather permits..........
So far seems like a real good power plant.........
......................All Replies welcome....Slawhammer.................

Teamchrome...Well from all I read and checked out on the marine heads and doing
the cylinder Mod....And with that RN Pipe to make the best power....
So All said and done should be the claim 6+ HP....
Maybe be to much power and no control......
Thanks for the reply.................Slawhammer..............

Clubin....Think maybe a good power plant..Time will tell...
I did some serious reading on the marine heads...and the claim of 6+ HP
that can be had....If not then I can build a 27.2 CC Engine...Good all around power..
Or go with the ADA Head kit...$ Bolt stuff....
Now I know there some serious engine builder's and engine Modder's out there as well
Traver ,Esp..Reed valve's...30.5CC ...ect...So maybe to much for my needs....
Thanks for your reply.......Slawhammer...........
