    fuel mix

I've been told that it is about 55 oct. Unless there is alot of compression, the motor doesn't need alot of octane. I run it in all of my large scale rc's and my 4 stroke weedeater. It works great and you can bring the cars in the house without gasoline fumes. My wife likes it because after...

    fuel mix

I run 32:1 Amsoil and Colman fuel and it runs great. I have an Oneill bros. 30.5cc reeded and ported. I have about 2.5 gallons through the thing and am really happy with it so far. I did run 91 octane gasoline to start but didn't have the same crisp throttle response. But then again, I started...

    WOW only 1200??

Yes it has 4 wheel drive and yes it weighs more than all the others. Mine weighs 42 pounds with gas. I assume that is why the 1/4 scale servo for the throttle and brake. It really is a fun truck, but it needs the larger 30cc engine to make it really fun.--nate

    monster tyres

The MCD tires, while still the same type of tread, are a softer compound and have better bite. BUT, they are expensive and very heavy. They will probably slow the bug down a bit. I have an MCD Monster and am looking at the Duratrax MT tires. I have been told that they are quite a bit lighter and...

    What Do You Do?

I'm a Chemistry Lab Tech for Nucor Steel Utah. I use a machine that samples the steel as they melt and cast it to make sure they have the right chemistry for the grade we're melting. Pays well, 34 miles from home. 4 on 4 off. 12hr days/nights. Changes from days to graves to days to...

    Is this a good trade?

I just traded a new, built, rtr tamiya ford highlift, a built, rtr tamiya txt-1, and a hopped up E-Zilla and 2 3600mah packs for a used baja. The baja came with heavy duty axles (not installed but extra), alloy shock towers (installed), alloy fuel cap, extra new wing and bottom plastic plate, 9...

    genesis conversion 1/5th

That thing looks neat! They say that the genesis can hold the power that one of these motors puts out but I would be worried about it. It is not made to handle the weight of that motor even with the extra shocks mounted like that. Also the truck is smaller in most of its parts and overall size...

    Broken parts

Well, now that it runs good, I have blown out two gears because a small rock imbedded itself into one of them. The final gear on the brakes and the one that it connects to(I don't know the name of these gears) were both melted. On inspection the rock was still in the gear. I have already...

    mcd rimz anyone?

Has anyone tried the Firehammer MT or equivalent wheels and tires on the monster? They have to be lighter than the stock ones. That may free up some rotating weight for the better.

    Engine finally good but...?

After messing around with this motor for what seems like forever, I traded the carburator on the MCD with the one on my XTM buggy.(the buggy ran great) The truck now runs like the monster that it's supposed to be! FINALLY!! It runs awesome and jumps great! I love it! It powerslides like crazy...

    Engine finally good but...?

I haven't had time to get back here for a while but I did work on the MCD recently. I have come to the decision to take the reed box off of the 30.5 motor. I'll let you know how it works once it's off. The reason being is that I don't think the reeds are opening up enough to let the motor...

    "The clones"

Well, I got it to fit and it looks awesome! I put 23mm adapters on the back with proline 40 series mashers, and 14mm adapters on the front with savage X tires and it looks like they were made to fit. I still can't figure out how to post pics, but I'll keep trying.--nate

    Engine finally good but...?

Got some lower gears but they didn't do the trick so I put it back to stock. I can get the low end and high end to clean out, but the mid range just bogs it right down. I've had a guy with more experience try, but still bogging down on the mid. Is it the pipe? Jetpro for this truck. Kind of at...

    Engine finally good but...?

I'm running the Oneill bros 30.5 with reed box and port work. Jetpro pipe. I took the reed box off, and the reeds were loose imo. I don't know much about reeds but shouldn't they be closed when the engine is off?:helpsmilie: --nate

    Engine finally good but...?

It is taking about a third of a block for this engine to hit the power-band, is this normal? With the supposed 7HP I think this engine should be brutal from the go. 4 tanks thru it. I could gear it down I guess but should I have to with the stock monster gearing? I'm still waiting to have an...

If I'm not mistaken teamchrome, yours is just about NOT yours anymore. Will you build another firehammer or go to something else?--nate

BTW, Scott from LargeScaleRC sent out a shock shaft priority mail and I should have it by the time I get home from work tonight. Those guys are great!--nate again

    Broken parts

First, knock on wood. OK. Now that that's out of the way:clown: , lets start a thread on what we have broken on these "Big Kahunas". Maybe this will help us out on what to have in out tool boxes. So far the motor is not even leaned out and I endoed the truck and broke a rear body mount...
