So should i use the teflon gaskets that come with an alloy intake manifold or use normal gaskets?

I cant wrap my head around it. So I just ordered the stock zenoah gaskets. My HPI 5t Esp 30.5 dosent have any of those on my phatdad billet manifold from 7 years ago and it runs like a scalded assed ape.. I assume they use the Teflon as a thermal barrier but I don't see it helping keep the carb that much cooler... Ordered the Bartledoo velocity stack with a dt1 triple filter as well.. it'll be going on my HPI 5b Esp ported 320.

I've never had an issue with the teflon gaskets either. Just torque them to spec. Although, the best remedy is what obr does, it's a hard plastic spacer and you put gaskets in front and behind it to seal . Works a charm, this is on my 34 reed but it's the same for their aluminum manifold they sell View attachment 68540
The plastic spacer also keeps heat away from carb.

Teflon is for water leaks. Im not using them.. And I don't run In ambient temps greater than 85. Usually 70-75f. Those carbs suck cold air...

Its a great setup ? and the carb says cool??

Teflon gaskets are used heavily in industrial pump applications. In peticular the cryogenics industry Like anything they have pros and cons. The pros are heat and cold resistence and maintaining flexability. The cons are under more normal conditions they are rigid and might not offer good sealing in certain part mating circumstances. I like the oem Rovan intake manifold which is a composite material (excellent resistance to heat soak) and i use paper gaskets and some permatex ultra copper for a good seal and bolt torque not affected by transferred engine vibrations.
