Well, after a disaster with a HPI 5T clone and a lemon of a DBXL, I got out of 1/5 scale for a while and went back to 1/10 and 1/8 scale. As luck would have it, a new neighbor who had a house built two doors down from me was recently tearing up the empty lots with his new Losi 5ive B and he let me drive it a bit. I immediately got hooked again and took delivery of a 5ive T 2.0 yesterday from DDM. Fedex next day Saturday delivery. I’m hoping to run it next week after work and will upgrade a few things right off the bat. First will be a Killer RC kill switch, outerwears shock covers and filter cover. I know a pipe is a must and DDM has a blow out on their Dominator. I plan the distance the Spektrum Rex for a Futaba three channel system I already have. Are there any other upgrades I need or just replace as I break?

Many thanks. I should have bought the 5ive T in the first place really. Buy once, cry once. Only in my case I made home run just before two strikes, lol. After I drove the 5B I got onto the internet and saw Arron‘s (DJ Medic) videos he did of Project Huge and Huge 2.0. I did see the Kraken vids but that was well out of my price range and I did hear some negative things about it. Just about every review of the 5ive T 2.0 was boasting of its toughness, ease of maintenance and upgrades.

Now I do have a couple questions to ask on the radio. Can I use a three channel system and does anyone use or had used a FlySky? I have one in the box with two receivers I won in a local hobby shop raffle last Christmas. The Futaba I mentioned earlier is being used by my nephew in Texas at this time. I forgot I let him borrow it and may let him keep it after all. He’s a good kid and I got him into RC a few years ago. His mother still hasn’t forgiven me as he is obsessed with RC trucks and boats, lol.

I figured I would get a Killer RC Lipo to power the FlySky rx and there would be no issues between the kill switch and a FlySky radio as you would have with Spektrum radios.

Welcome??
I have a flysky gt5,only problem is battery life. You have to disconnect it because controller uses battery when off.
No real other problems to report so far. Which model do you have?. The latest- Noble?,only issue I've heard of is possibly distance but cannot say for sure.
Flyskys are good controllers for the money.

There are mods for the gt3 ,one important one is the voltage regulator mod for gt3b.
It greatly improves the controller as they suffer from heat issue from VR.
Here :Flysky GT3B voltage regulator.

There's also a 8 channel mod,a screen polarity mod - etc.

Remember this is a older controller that's been around awhile. There are newer better flysky ones for low cost- GT5. The Noble is more expensive.
Google: flysky gt3 mods

PS:Seandonato73,
Check out the mods,it's the heat that's probaly causing issues for you.

I have a gt3c not a b. And it's been hacked and all screen mods done to it. It has a switching power supply from the factory. So no need to replace the resistor with one. The range isnt terrible bad, just not very good. Not even close to my futaba. So it stays on the rock crawler. Works well for that.

I’ve been using my GT3B with a Associated MGT 4.60 SE and a SCX10 with no issues. Haven’t experienced any heat issues. Range seems OK. Running on a makeshift track in a dirt lot near the house. I’ll look into those mods when I get back from work.

If I need to, I could just hold out and get another Futaba. Time is at a minimum for me. Being an essential worker has me pulling overtime and not much free time to mess with the new toy. It’s always the case for me.

I'm one of the few people that have had massive range issues with both the GT3C and GT3B. I threw out the B and gave away the C. They were so bad, that most of the time I couldn't even use them on my crawlers unless I was literally standing right beside them. I will never trust another flysky product again. I crashed my Baja flux and a 1/8 truggy because of the range issue. 0 issues with my Spektrum DX5C. Currently bound to over 20 RC's.

Welcome I just purchased 5t w.0 also I love it??????

Many thanks everyone. I can get a good deal on another Futaba and Ill go that route to be safe. $1300 is a big investment to gamble on a cheap radio as said above.
What tuned pipe is best for the 2.0? I was looking at the DDM Dominator but I think it's for the Version 1. I know there are fitment issues between the Ver 1 and 2.0.
