Yep. Just remember it moves the weak link to gears harder to replace. I don't run a big bore but I switched to the hostile gears and aluminum spur carrier. That way it's stronger and still easier to replace.

Taylor RC has alx as well that are top tier. Black one has an entire gear upgrade kit as well as a 2 speed.

I'd check out the ddm black magic to start. Just keep a little budget for the blackbone trans gears down the road.

Hey there, hope you are all well.

I recently bought a used 5b SS - it needs a bit of attention and I want to do a few upgrades.

All the shocks seem to be leaking oil - what is the best solution for that? rebuild kit? replacements?

Rear lower arms and front upper arms are broken - should I replace with HPI items or are the alloy arms worth going for?

Hydraulic brakes - I'd like to upgrade the brakes to discs all round, or at minimum the fronts - what is the best kit to get please?

(any links for the above parts would be greatly appreciated - I'm based in the UK)

Thanks for any advice.
I don't recommend alloy lower wishbones if you're using the rig off road. They'll bend sooner or later and bind up.

Hydraulic front brakes are a decent idea.

Rear brakes I think very highly of this system:

TR 1 piece brake mount.

With a decent servo - like a Protek 170 TBL - the brakes are progressive and can be locked up on any surface! 😎

I quite like the precise adjustment option with alloy upper wishbones:

And I definitely prefer the centre steering push/pull mod:

4503.webp
Well worth the effort. Whatever servo you have will essentially have twice the mechanical advantage. 🤩
