Any suggestions as my original HPI rims are not really holding together very well - the beadlock screws have stripped out
Original HPI rims were quite difficult to get the beadlocks clamped down evenly.

Newer versions, and those by numerous clone brands are chunkier and firmer.

I have zero issues with Mad Max or Rovan rims. They can also be sourced pre-mounted.

Take a look at the variety here:

Something for everyone. 👍👌

I like the orange MadMax rims but they are out of stock - I have the MadMax tyres already.

the Olimat pipe is immense!

they’re awesome rigs once you get them dialed in, although Leaking shocks is super common on used 5Bs. First thing I’d try is a rebuild with new O-rings and fresh oil; most of the time that sorts it. If the shafts are pitted or the bodies are scratched inside, then replacements make more sense. The HPI big bores are solid, but there are some nice aftermarket options too if you want to upgrade later

If the weather is decent this weekend I should be able to get the car out for a rip.

I've reset the carb needles to factory and will tune for the Olimat pipe.

The CY26 is going to be replaced with a Zenoah G320 next month - seems like the best bang for buck in terms of power.

How is the new season of Outlander? :ROFLMAO:

At £109 per pair (front or rear), they're quite an investment. They're tough as old boots, quite agricultural, but won't leak due to their umbrella seals.

They are pretty heavy though and won't feel quite as silky smooth as typical 1/8th Truggy shocks with run of the mill silicone o-rings.

Decisions decisions! 😅👍

Sounds like a solid plan, resetting the needles and tuning it specifically for the Olimat pipe should really wake it up.Good call on the G320 too hard to beat a Zenoah for reliability and usable power, especially compared to a tired CY26. You’ll definitely notice the difference once it’s in,If the weather cooperates and you get a shakedown run in, keep an eye on those shocks while you’re at it. Like I mentioned before, leaking is super common on used 5Bs a rebuild with fresh O-rings and oil usually sorts it, and you can always step up to big bores or aftermarket later once the rest of the setup is dialed..

Had the Baja out at the weekend to run the Zenoah in - all I can say is.. WOW - that thing is a monster compared to the CY 26cc engine.

Put about half a tank through it, varying the revs to seat the ring, it now has insane compression and it rips, even though I am on factory needle settings.

The Olimat silenced pipe is a nice compromise - not too loud but braps enough to get that 2 stroke moto cross goodness - will post some pics later

Bigger motor on a real pipe makes these things much more lively .
I got some big bore shocks off Alliexpress , they leaked for fun till I bought some lip seals and put 2 in each shock .
Bullet proof now and the seals were only about a pound each.

Here are some pics of my whip

I want to upgrade the spur gear to metal, I am shredding the plastic ones - gearing is standard, clutch bell ist standard - what should I buy?

I'm not bothered about changing the ratio.
