Atom,

do you have the paint codes of your McLaren body?

Dark blue?
Orange?
White stripe?

I am considering that Gulf theme as one of the possible options. And thanks for your comments.

Hi there, contact Caci623 - he painted it!!

Excellent job.

He painted my FG MT 'Blue Thunder' themed truck body as well.

We discussed quite a bit before finalising. I've got chrome where the original is silver only.

I prepped everything today to be ready for the first start. I am still waiting for the sensors to arrive for the engine monitoring unit.

That unit measures cylinder head temperature for both heads and exhaust gas temperature for both cylinders and revolutions of the engine. It does all the functions simultaneously and has warning limits that set off a red color LED on. And a LCD display. So I will install that to the car and then I will be ready to fire up.

I measured the weight distribution of the car today.

53% of total weight on rear axle and 47% in the front axle.

Left side 49,5%, right side 50,5%.

I would have wanted 50-52% of the weight on the front axle so the manoveurability under full or partial load would have been neutral and no understeer (typical to 4WDs). I should have placed the engine a little bit forward than what it is but it was impossible to know exactly beforehand. I thought that position would have been enough.

BTW; all of you who have weight scales and a 4WD rc car please could you measure your cars corner weights? I would like to have comparison data. Post weights in driving condition with full tank of gas, either normal house scale or a fish scale. Measure the weight on all wheels. I would like to know what kind of weight distribution known brands have.

I get you. However my first thought is functionality and the body will take severe beating. Nothing will last on the exterior of an offroad rallycross car. That is why I kept the exterior details "easy".

oh yeah,

the body is just plain freaking awesome! when available please let us know!

also, what does the screw heads do to the foams? gotta be rough on them. you have a method for protecting the foams?

Hi,

it's VERY cold outside now (-26 Celsius) and the engine monitoring unit sensors have not arrived yet. I don't want to take any chances with the engine. And because I broke one of the fingers in my left hand (I'm a leftie) which has now been healing since my operation in 24 Dec, my hand is EXTREMELY sensitive to cold. And the finger has 4 stainless steel spikes which get cold very fast and it starts to hurt like hell. And I need to use my left hand to start the car and the T-handle needs to be pulled VERY agressively. So all this is a little bit too much for me just now.

Videos will be available, you can count on that

No updates now. I decided to get rid of the pullstart and make an electric starter. Just bought the gears for that last Friday. Pullstart was way too heavy to use and cords kept snapping very easy.
