Baja storage

Not using my Baja for a few weeks, how do you guys store them?

Do you empty the tank and run it dry of fuel like they recommend with petrol garden tools when storing them?

If it is only a few weeks, then running dry is not necessary. Few months, then yes, run it dry.

Absolutely under no circumstance should you run a 2-stroke engine out of fuel.

lolz, I actually do nothing. I think the last time, a few of my 5SC's sat on the shelf 2+ years with some fuel in the tank. I recently got 2 up and running. I dumped the fuel from the tanks and flushed with fresh fuel. I then replaced the lines, clunk and filled with fresh fuel mix. My 3rd, will eventually get the same treatment.

Hmm, I do it all the time???? Hah, even the VERY fast 2 stroke motorcycles I use to run out of fuel (quite often). (Yamaha RZ350)
Not sure where that info is coming from (old wives tale)

EDIT: Someone posted before I got my question/answer up. Was speaking of person that stated, NEVER run a 2 stroke out of fuel.

@BCRstudio so since you like to just talk why are you here? It was "mentioned" in a past post with let's see some pics of your rigs and you fail to provide any. So I'll leave you with this, shut your mouth and go find another forum to go blab on. As far as I'm concerned you just make alot of noise, I and im sure theres others here that can care less with what you have to say, you have yet to post a simple solution for members problems but rather extravagant bull poop.

And you are correct (thankfully, I am not the only fellow with same sentiment).

We (I would never name someone that may/may not want to be involved with such childish adamant mentality, such as yours).
And same goes for those that have no life, with 5,000 posts, or 20,ooo posts (usually of nonsense).

Again, you are correct, on me wasting my time and knowledge here (just waiting for a moderator to kick me off (I suppose, since I have not contributed AT ALL).

Yeah, this was/is a childish (old hobby) of mine, and I felt as though I could eat up some time, to get back with adults within my age range (or at least mentality range).

By the way, do not listen to non-sense (of never running a 2-stroke (or ANY engine for that matter) dry. GREAT ADVICE. Very helpful.

I just suck out the remaining fuel out of the tank with a fuel bulb and put the car away
Make sure it’s not stored in direct sunlight either
My Baja was stored for ten years in the garage and all I did was replace the reciever battery and fuel it up and it started right up
I think using a good quality oil helps and use good ethonal free fuel too it keeps the carb from gumming up

So what's the point of oil in an engine? I think your mistaken here @BCRstudio , glad we cleared the air between us because I wasn't really interested with what you had to say when you first came on here an pm'd randomly with me about the boats I was building

I am not that guy, I do not care about STUFF (and certainly not HOBBY stuff.).

So I am glad you know the exact answer, for each person(s) situation. It helps a lot, since nobody need to contribute (actual knowledge).
If I were to bother with a pic (which I did post a couple), would matter not. As I have NOTHING to prove, on STUFF I have.
But if it makes YOU feel good, I can post a video (as a pic I can get anywhere), with me showing (and stating what I have).

I have purchased a few of these covers from this woman on eBay and have them on my cars help keeps dust and debris off of them. I also keep my cars raised up on a stand to take the pressure off the suspension and the save the tires. As far as fuel removal goes I use race gas and I have some cars that I’ve emptied and stored and I have some cars that have had fuel in them for a year or two and I have not had any problems with either so what works for you.🏎

I put a bicycle lift on the ceiling in the garage.

Rep NEVER is a very strong word, but I understand where you're coming from, but a good mix should keep everything sliding after loss of spark.
BCR, Respect, RZ350 is one of the sweetest 2 stroke ever. If you ran it out of fuel, I bet you were sweating.
And I'm sure no one was talking flat out tank drain.
I ran my fan cooled 488 2 stoke dry of oil, going flat out across a lake. The squeak I heard was the piston in the cylinder, not the clutch. Cooled down, dumped oil down the cylinder and the rest in the tank, fired right up and ran for years.

That being said, I just add new fuel to what was left in the tank and haven't had an issue, even after years.

So nobody is going to mention taking the battery out and charging it properly?
Lipo for storage voltage, nimh to full.
Some stand or hanging car so not to deform tires would be good idea too.
Oh and of course bath all metal parts in wd 40 to prevent corrosion

you should know all about that if your getting into a 1/5 scale rig. So no not typically advise that should need given.

just becase you think someone "should" know something doesn't mean he does. A lot of people are buying 1/5 for first rc and looking for advice.
you also shouldn't assume everyone knows something just because its obvious to you.
