Should I buy a differernt charger, or use the one that came with the Firehammer MT
This is the other charger I have. but I don't think it will work with this battery pack(different connector) http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/36970

MrGrimm..Don't look like any one hijacked your thread....It looks like people have been
adding information about Batteries and use of charger's...
and with all good information....
I would like to say..for any nicad or mah battery you still need to form the batterys
by charging and discharging...so they will hold a charge longer...
not just the nicad..but both batteries....ask the people who build them...
...............Slawhammer...............
If it were me, I would look for a pack with the white (Tamiya style) connector. You can stuff alot more amps through the bigger wire and connector.. Or you could just solder on a Tamiya connector.[/IMG]
The FHMT charger will work fine. It will take about 10 hours to charge a fully discharged pack however.Ive decided to go with this pack

The receiver battery pack does not need to supply much current so having a high-discharge battery or LIPOs is not necessary. Plus, adding a bigger connector does not change the wires on the pack, and the wires will always be the limiting factor, rarely the connector.
The Hydrimax 4200mah battery is a high-discharge type but that is not why you would use it in the FHMT. You use this pack since it has a lot of capacity and is a good price.

The purpose of adding (not changing) the connector is to make it easier to charge with a regular charger. That's one less adapter to worry about.
Sorry, I should have been more specific... I meant, add the Tamiya connector so you could CHARGE it at a higher amperage.. Sorry.
I can't stuff anything higher than about 2 amps through the thin 24 gauge wire, without the wire getting hot.

Here are a couple of good priced chargers that will handle cycling NiCD, NiMH and will also balance charge LIPOs. They both seem to be regarded highly by the RC community as far as I can tell in all the forums. I use the E6 and am thinking of getting the Turnigy as well. There are MANY similar 50W chargers out there at different price points, look around!

Thank you. I think I might go with the first one of those two.
