I guess it’s time for me to 💩or get off the pot. So here goes, starting with a roached out 5t roller combined with RC Max chassis, bulkheads etc and a metric 💩 ton of other upgrades My ultimate goal for this is a small big bore a little down the road but in the interim I’ll stick an OBR SS in it to get me up and running.0CF017D5-5DEE-4BC5-9E91-3FD06C09AF7C.jpeg5E89C8E7-E3B8-43DB-912C-2E7ABDC3C479.jpeg73A86085-3963-40AE-9504-3DCBB033BBBC.jpegC5382DEF-32A3-4659-951A-09365D6BEDD6.jpeg

1st question when tearing apart the donor truck I found it has a 3 degree toe and 2 degree anti squat brace. I had already bought a 0 degree toe & 2 degree anti squat. I haven’t really played with anything tuning on my 2.0 except for upgrading the springs.

what are general thoughts on which brace to use? It’s just going to be a basher.89558D79-1258-474E-8096-42B7273B3BFB.jpeg

More toe to me means more rear tire wear... i can see more toe on a track as more friction with the tires pointing in. But for a basher I'd probably go back to a lower degree toe for longer tire life

At some point I’ll spring for the 5b set up Doug recommended seems to be a little more versatile for tuning.
So just for chits & giggles I thought I’d weigh the upgrade parts vs what’s on the donor truck. Not sure what on it is stock and what is upgraded since this is the deepest I’ve dove in so far. Found MOD bearing upgrade in the rear diff, that I was able to id since I bought one for the 2.0 just haven’t installed it yet.

diff housing
Stock 47 grams
ADI 53 grams
+ 6

outdrive hubs
Stock?? 44 grams
Team Chase 45 grams
+2

Diff internals. **This surprised me **
Stock?? 11 grams
MIP Super 6 grams
- 10

Bulkheads
Stock 272 grams
RC Max 386 grams
+ 114

So as I see it with the upgrades I am 2 grams lighter on reciprocating mass. The RC Max bulkhead is just a beefy corn feed girl and I can’t do anything about that, but enjoy it for what it is!🤣🤣

So, time has been tight lately and when I have to choose between bashing the 2.0 or building this one bashing wins out!🤣

Got some time and got back into the build. Rebuilt diffs with MIP kits and 100,000 rear and center with 500,000. Unfortunately in my childlike exuberance I went to rebuild the front today and I misplaced the seal for the last ADI diff housing. 🤬 I reached out to ADI to see if I can buy a seal independent of the diff housing, hoping I can. Has anyone ever used a stock o ring with an ADI diff?

I have to say when I first started and looked up RC Max diffs I was skeptical of the price. I am a believer now, fit and finish is perfect. The mesh between the rear crown and pinion is awesome and ZERO play side to sideusing two shims.

Had to relieve a little material on the plastic pin brace cover for the pinion shaft housing to align the bolts.

Things are starting to get sexy! Turtle Racing ridge back drop arms and titanium turn buckles with new ends. Thought the rear sway bar was neglected too much to use but a little elbow grease and Barkeepers friend and it cleaned up really well

So since I am in a holding pattern with rebuilding the front because I lost the ADI seal moved on to preparing other stuff and mocking up parts.

I set in the front bulkhead in minus the diff. Started on the steering, looks like someone found their own mod to stop the servo spring adjuster from backing off.

Found the Team Hoonage top portion was pretty galled up.

In an attempt to progress I tried to clean it up and save it. After a couple passes with a file you can see some of the galling was fairly deep.

Cleaned it up the best I could with a few more passes with a file. Didn’t feel comfortable taking away any more meat and changing the ramp profile. Polished it up with some 800 grit. This is the end result.

installed ADI steering with new bearings and Fast Eddy locking jam nut mod.

Thanks Sean, that’s what I was thinking. After hearing your response I’ll apply some lube I was considering it, just was worried about it attracting dirt and ending up with the same result.

So, changed gears a little and started to prep the OBR. Installed the Vertigo clutch housing, hex drive clutch bell 21t pinion and then installed the kill switch.

Man, I can’t stand the 90’s style graphics they put on the shrouds. I decided to de-doucify a bit and used some spares I had around. Also installed the Silverback pull start extender and an Outerwears for the pull start. Really like the Silverback brand extension. It’s the second one I’ve bought, got one on my 2.0 and love it!

Lol motor just lost .5 hp with the wrap removed 🤦‍♂️😂😉
Personally I prefer it myself 👍🏻
