I picked up a used gas powered RC to try, I been in the electric for awhile. The guy said it was a FG but I can't find anything on it. I'm trying to hunt down a flywheel an if someone can help me figure out what I have I'd be so appreciative.

definitely not FG.. Those arms and that engine are dead give away. its a old vintage Bergonzoni / dynmaic racing short chassis car. Heres a old thread about them. they were popular in 2000s. yours looks pretty complete minus a fuel tank. Still some parts on ebay and I see a complete car get posted sometimes that go for several thousands of dollars. Don't know much more about them but i have looked into them during my late night rabbit hole of ebaying old RCs.

Hey thank you so much!! I would never figured it out . I'm about to get on an check out the link you sent. I need a flywheel for it, mine is cracked. It's got good compression and getting spark but how the flywheel is, I can't run it. I traded one my electric trucks for it, not knowing anything about it. But wanted to get into the gasoline cars, so hopefully I can get her going. Thanks again buddy

I'm seeing that now, idk if I can't find the flywheel I may end up putting a newer up to date motor on it.. I'd just really like to get this one going as it's in good shape an I'm sure would run with a flywheel.. might end up taking the flywheel to a local machine shop see if it's anything they might can fix

What's wrong with the flywheel? i would go the machine shop route and save that engine. maybe buy a cheap Zenoah/CY flywheel and have them machine it to fit. or weld the original one back up if its cracked or something..

Yours looks to be an older Reed case motor. Those engines were super well made as most Italian things were. ported polished and tuned Reed motor from the factory. back when most were running German solo engines or Zens. rumor has it the European championship banned them because their reed motors were destroying the competition.

It's cracked an when you tighten it up it rubs the casing. I really wanna get this motor going an know it would with another flywheel but it's got stress cracks on the front too

ohhh.. i was afraid of that yeah that's bad.. fixable but time consuming . have to drill and grind the crack out and tig weld or braze the whole gap back up and machine it back down.. cheap option would be to pick up a cheap chinese flywheel off amazon or something for 20 bucks and put them side by side to see if you could make that work.. most likely have to come up with new way to mount the pullstart too. or drill start the thing.

that last picture shows the crack only on the taper portion.. if you don't plan to run this a lot and just want to get it going once in awhile.. maybe have the machine shop make you a press fit collar to squeeze over that part so the crack doeesn't grow.

Yeah I was thinking it'd be a good bit of work to fix this one, an I seen some that was dam near identical but I'm not sure if would work you know? As far as the shaft size an depth to the casing. Like ya said everything is there an in good shape I'd love to get it going, I have the tank on it now now too. I need a micrometer an measure everything, go from there I guess. See what I can find the same or close to it

If you're lucky a CY/HY or Zen flywheel may fit?

Can you get us dimensions? Judging by what it looks like this is what comes to mind as for the size of the flywheel but the price tag is half way there for a new engine. Best bet is give us the circumference and if you can snap a pic of it on a ruler as well as let's see the pull start it has front and back.

I was wondering if they would fit, imma have to takeIMG_20220801_203121023.webp

Not a problem, next suggestion is find a place that does sand casting and send them the flywheel to be re cast. I'd say that's your absolute best bet to get exactly what you need if you cannot find one used or a new one. Is there an engine manufacturer name anywhere on that engine?

Oh yeah I would never thought about that, casting a new one. I'm sure there's gotta be someone I can send it to an get done. As far as a name or number on it I haven't seen anything on the motor. Although I haven't pulled it off yet an may be something on the bottom side. I got it like 3 weeks ago an just getting into looking at it more.

Hell yeah! Maybe there's luck after all. Thank you How the letters were cast, an my eyesight I wouldn't have seen or made that out. That's awesome they have a breakdown of it too. I'm about to jump back an check it out better now myself
