haha btb yes i know the vid looks more scary than reality, the camera isnt doing any justice lol

ahh in the summer with some heat the car will be really very fast in the corners.

these are only the start of a whole lot of vids to come,i might make some sort of chicanes the next time i run it there, must wait for wind to chill first though as it doesn't seem to like my cones lol

Wow, you could go through a small fortune in tires.:(

exactly btb and they were 80euro from hobbythek, the fronts i didnt show them as they were ok,front end always less pressure, but it just goes to show..

there are still even stickier tyres on the market but imagine how fast they would go down lol

they are the same as the full scale racing cars on the tracks, btb if you could measure the speed and scale it up to a full size comparrison it would be hitting 120mph in that car park,if you know what i mean...

even in the wet today the tyres were hot....

awesome!!!:2guns:

ha!!! you smoked them tires!! maybe 5 or so tanks? i put on some old pmt's and put the hammer down.. what a freakin blast that thing is!! never had it out in a parking lot before.. i had some ok traction today. it topped out at 32*f(freezing!) im down loading the vid now. should be up soon..

man that sounds fair cold man....

the driving i done was fairly hard and it just eats the tyres lol
yes you are spot on right around 5 tanks little over i think.

you should start up a new thread man on that onroad with a few vids, why not, would be cool....

intrested to see it now.

Hi dc, you are wrong about the car being harder on tyres at the back, all on roads are harder on the front mate...look it up... you sure both tyres are the same compond? you should be trying to get even ware all round...with harder tyres on front...this is from my expereance....

well im just giving the info that was with the tyres, maybe they are differnt than the tyres you have had,as you said you never ran these fg tyres (squigles) well super they were fitted as instructions read to do so. sure isnt the rear under a lot more pressure being the driven wheels and all.

super its strange so that my fronts arnt even wearing, can say now that you have me confused lol

the fronts are wearing also but just not as bad as the rears, they came in the same set as the rears and had a slightly differnt thread pattern, but they are definatly the fronts super.

hey man, good point, but he is running a diffrent set-up. and thats why they wear more even. dc has fronts and rears. you cant run them backwards or rotate them. notice the diffrent tread patterns?

dc, are you getting the same tyres as last time? i just ordered these. http://www.fgsupply.com/1_5th_scale_on_road-1_5_Medium_Rear_ICARO_tyre.html they are about $21 cheaper per set. they arent good track tires couse they don't retain heat as well, but i have used them before and they have "hell-of-a-good" tread wear and hook up pretty well. they arent good for cold or wet lots but they arent bad. also, if you boil those tires you can save the rims so you only have to by the tires and glue them youself.. just a thought, couse at your rate, you will go thru a set of tires every weakend..

Update.

update.

so i just placed another order for the same tyres rear set x2 and one set of fronts, these should see me through the summer now as i will be swapping around now aswell,in future now after these wear out i may just buy tyres on there own.
with that i have ordered alloy uprights x4 (wont fit untill needed)
alloy x2 lower a-arms at the rear, anoidsed blue.
alloy rear shock mount.
carson spare clutch.
will show pics when arrive now too.

to date what is done to this new model,as follows.

1/ upgraded battery pack to 4500 up from 3000mah
2/upgraded throttle/brake servo to hitek metal geared digital servo.
3/upgraded to a hitek transmittor and onboard reciever
4/upgraded to complete alloy diff with modified washers and greese packed for better all round usability.
5/alloy diff mounts x4
6/fg front uprights as the standard ones pulled through after 5tanks,(new anodised blue alloy ones on the way also x4)
7/fg sticky rubber 4 corners with white rims
8/spare bmw 320 si shell for display purposes
9/alloy spur gear adaptor
10/steel special clutch pinion
11/fg special spur gear

what i have got waiting to go on when needed

1/alloy engine mounts x2
2alloy gearplate
3/alloy rear lower a-arms
4/all alloy balljoints

on order are as follows

1/ alloy uprights x4
2/ alloy blue anodised rear lower a-arms x2
3/ new carson clutch
4/two sets of fg dtm rear tyres mounted and glued
5/ one set of fronts
6/ alloy rear shock mount

none of the above will be fitted untill completly reqired, this machine will be tested through and through first and so far it is awfully tough......

intresting facts about carson/solo

solo is a german built 23cc touring car engine built by fg modelsport, its design is unique to other engines as it uses differnt part designs, crankshafts are of a differnt design, zenoah cy parts will not fit this engine, differnt crank shaft, differnt clutch, flywheel differnt design it looks much bigger and wider too, cylinder heads and pistons etc will also not swap over from zenoah/cy,it has a differnt high quality pullstarter, the inside starter ring on the unit is all alloy, strong looking, again a zenoah or cy would defo not fit as it is a complete differnt design.

funny as i have loads and loads of zenoah/cy spares including heads and pistons, flywheels, clutches none of these will fit this model.

just thought it was worth posting this up for those that didnt know.;)

Dc..read what axle these tyres go on....

hey super.
checking out that e-bay link now man and thanks.

the pmt tyres are differnt to the ones i use you see.
check out mine on hobbytheks page and you will see, differnt compound super...

Update!

so on this excellent model something finally decided to give up and that was the front uprights, what happens on carson ones are as follows,on the front suspension lower arm there is a screw which conects lower arm to upright, this large hex head screw is running through a metal rod which is sitting in the upright, and of course after sometime it caused this to pull through the plastic.

fg plastic uprights are better because the screw just screws straight up there without that little metal ball socket..
so on goes the fg two front uprights i had as spares.

like i said i have four blue anodised alloy uprights ordered but these wont be going on untill everything has completly given up.

here in the pics you will see in detail what i mean and the fg one waiting to go on lying on the bed, also you will see the big amount of spares i have for these models.

Man, that`s a lot of spare parts (especially in aluminium) I thought I had a lot of spare parts but I will have to buy me some more in order to reach our level :)

I`m starting to build up an interest in onroad cars myself now when I see all your videos. I was looking at these cars at Hobbytheks hompage and as you stated earlier, Carson onroad is much cheaper than the FG onroad. Why is this? What is the difference beteween FG:s cheapest onroad and your Carson?

hey waqr
well all you will ever need is what you have seen me replacing,i have shown everybody so far the weekpoints, and they are very minor....
very strong car,i don't like the cheap fg range of cars cause they are short wheel base and the only differnce in price waqr is fg supply them with more expensive radio gear.

other than that fg plastic may be a little tougher, but the differnce would be minimal.

GET ONE....as long as you have a place to run it you will love it.....:D
