well guys my mind has been working again... what about using old conveyor belt!!!!! say from a quarry.. if we had the tyres we could put the conveyor belt against the tyres and making a neat edge for the track....

plus i got a bit board and started doodling.....:w00t::w00t:
yep the track.....:celebrate:
track one...
as the pic we have the start/finish straight and i thought we could have a couple of small bumps after turn 1, then after turn 2 and just on turn 3/4 have 1 small bump, then in between turns 5/6 we could have a table top jump and the we could have 3/4 very small and close together bumps just on the start of the long curve to the finish line..

track two...
we have the start/finish straight and then the same as track 1 a couple of small bumps after turn 1,then a table top jump on the mid and top straight and then on the last bend we could have about 6 like ripple bumps then onto the straight to the finish.....for :cup-1::cup-2::cup-3:

ps the pit lane is the bit on the main straight.....:party-time:

The figure of 8 track that was on a vid on another thread recently looked like fun :w00t: Could you incorporate a loop round with a jump over a section of track to make it a bit different??

Nice one Paul. I have sent barry a pm re taking things to the next stage. Will keep you all posted.

If we build the track we may as well try and incorporate from the start any requirments the BRCA have that may/will allow us to host national events. A raised pit straight is a must.

We will all need to get together down at the proposed site to not only meet the heli guys but also to decide who takes what role, we have to make the club an affiliate of the BRCA (£75) and to do that we have to appoint club officials eg. chairman, secretary etc.

Been thinkin of tracks too,
What i'd like to suggest is: a long straight, we all like to go flat out.
Up and under (table top and tunnel),
Ripples as paul suggests too (with a long route flat opinion),
Pos a couple of banked corners.

I'd get to drawing some layouts for peeps to look over, lets see everyones take on the subject and we can prob include whatb we all want.

Lovin all this, roll on the summer.

This is what we need to drive it forward, people who are prepared to get involved. Makes for a happier club as everyone feels like they have had a hand in it.

don't seem why not, on the both tracks ive put up where the track comes close together maybe we could cut through then back round to jump over track..

wow guys thing are movin fast

the tracks with the up and over jump looks the best imo, instead of the tyres or pipes could we not just use the dirt thats already there and build small banks runnin along both sides????

due to all the hard work that you've been doin jon i think its only fare that you should hold the chair mate, what does everyone think??????

i think is a good idea for club officials, but any nominated officials should be within a stated distance from the club. what would you guys think of this?
1. we pay membership. which we have agreed to.
2. have the brca insurance. which will be necessary for the club.
3. members pay say £2.50 and non members pay £5/6 to use the track.
this would make a bit of income in time for us to
1. maintain the track/improve it.
2. pay to travel to other race venues...
what you guys think?

I went into my local rc shop Hobby Corner and asked about putting up some notices about the new club, he was very enthusiastic about it as the wrexham club had shut and the oswestry one is on the way. So he is willing to promote the club too. he did ask if it was open to other types of cars? and i said the i don't see why not, but they would need to join or pay and run but they would need to join the BRCA for the insurance.

Sounds good, I think I know your local rc shop in Wrexham. The old outdoor on road track used to be on the Wrexham Ind Est. I used to run on and off up there. A few guys from Steve Webb Models raced there also.

As long as they are Off road then they can run on out track but as you point out they will need to have BRCA licence and pay to do so.

Paul
A good mate of mine has a playground buisness and has said in the past i can have the off cuts of astro (nearly full rolls in some cases) so i'm on his case.

I'd like to suggest that we set up a Club Bank Account and members pay in a standard charge of £5 per month (£60pa) to use and for the up keep of the track. Non-members pay a set Charge for the day which will go between the Largescale and Heli Club to split.
This of course when its all up and running.

So if we have say 20 in the club (can see us getting 20 easy) this would generate £1200pa. This could go towards the Sea Container whether its hired or bought from the farmer and poss a Portaloo (much needed in the middle of a field and no Burger King to pop to  ).

Any thoughts whether this would work or not.

Yep, good ideas mate. We need to get together to discuss all the options and get agreement on the various aspects. I have pm'd Barry re meeting the farmer to get his written consent before we go ahead and dig his field up. We need to appoint the various positions of the club and these people will take the ideas from all concerned and make a decision in the best intersts of the club. At the moment we have a lot of people offering ideas and services that all needs pulling together to work effectively.
