What are normal engine running temps and from where on the engine are you checking it?I saw somewhere 500f at base of plug is mac before damage,is this true?

Yeah I hear the shroud helps cool the engine and not to remove it.
Just don't remove it period ??you should not

Yep,so one of us can buy the roller,cheap if you do.??If your going to smother your engine with everything else ,like body ,body panels an other things ,you should not
remove the shroud!
I was asking about temps because on another forum someone posted a email reply from the engine maker and they said keep under 482F Max measured on the case at the base of the spark plug.I had these types of engines smoking hot ,they can take a lot of heat! ,been working on them for all most 30 years!
