Hey guys.. Just installed the wt-1242 carb on esp 340. Any setting suggestions on where to start in terms of needle settings?? ESP manual suggests 1.25 on the low and 1.75 on the high. Tried this setting but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. TIA..

If it's a new engine keep choke on and pull slow till it pops. It takes a bit to get fuel into a new engine.
So my bad.. It starts but idles very low.. But now seeing the carb settings above.. I think i was running too rich.. Going to try with the new settings tomorrow.. Will keep y’all posted..
Thank you..🙏🏼

Slowly turning in the low speed needle will raise idle rpm but will make the engine run leaner. So it's a balancing act between the idle screw and low end needle. You want a crisp snappy bottom end without bogging, so if the low end is tuned right and it's idling low just bring the idle up with the idle screw some.

Basic carb tuning, set to the factory set point (if available*) 1.5 ish turns out if generally close enough. Set the idle screw open a bit. The key is to just get it to run at this point. Get it running and let it get some heat in it. Set the low screw. Turn in till the rpm rises abruptly then out till it bogs a bit. Somewhere near the middle will be about right to start. Some fiddling with the idle screw may be nessisary to keep idle rpm. At this point start driving around snapping the throttle. No bog, good acceleration is what you're after. Typically a slightly rich setting is where you'll end up. It's OK to adjust the idle screw/low screw to maintain idle rpm. Then start your wot pulls and adjust the high needle. There's about ~30% overlap in the needles, so you may have to go back and readjust the low needle to find the sweet spot.
This can be quite daunting if you're new to 2 strokes but you'll get it eventually. Just remember slightly rich settings won't blow an engine but lean will kill an engine fast.
