Flywheel key removal from crank

So before I just trash this key in the crank HAS anyone removed one that is stuck tight in the crank? My options is grind it flush so it can pass through the bearing. Heat up the crank as the seals will be replaced anyway. Cut the feking thing off as the crank is garbage. Trying to save the case thats all that matters

Take a small screw driver and jam it in , then bash it with a hammer. Should come out

Yep from the end of the crank it should move enough to rock/walk it out

Have you considered pulling on it REALLY hard with a pliers ??? JK

You could also just heat the whole case to like 300 degrees and bash the crank end till it comes out with the bearings and throw the bearings out.

IS THE CRANK or key discolored ?? I ask because you had that bad bottom end

Yea thought of all of it. I do deal with keys but since this is mine I want to be nice to it. Tried the chisel and it won't lift. Only the con rod is discolored

use a hammer with the chisel if it is really stuck your crank is toast anyhow , you could try to heat the crank then spray the key with canned air upside down then hit it ?

Im just gunna knock it out with the bearing.. fek it

Alls you need to do is use is a soft metal bolt and tap near the edge of the key. This should cause the opposite end to move up then just grab the key with vice grips and it should easily pull out. Sometimes they can be stubborn if the key or crank stub is rusted.

WAIT!!! Use liquid wrench penetrating oil on it. Allow it to soak for 20 mins and try to remove it. If it doesn't come off do it again possibly up to 4 times. It WILL come off.

Its out. I smashed it out with a punch and a hammer...the key could be saved but probably not worth saving now

Yea I know I bought one for my spare esp 34 thats why I wasn't too worried about saving it

So what you doing with the cases? You might have said but your always rebuilding engines and switching parts so I forgot ?‍??
