Thanks , I'm not digging the king motors pipe bracket so I'm gunna take the pipe out in the garage and tig weld something less floppy on it. Plus this whole thing is put together with stuff I had and the stuff that came off the 2.0 so I have so far 20 bucks into it with the shock rebuild kit.

I made a better pipe bracket using olimat's design. It was rushed but functional

Think it's at least 80% compatible from the 2.0 to 1.5 I have a lot of 2.0 parts on my 1.5 5ive t.

I agree sean, it's nice to see that the v1 5t can pretty much be overhauled with what's available today. That's a big plus for me as I had/have stuff I can no longer source parts for or pay ridiculous premiums.

Update: scrapping the king motors pipe and ordered a taylor zenoah big bore pipe.

Also I'm going to order a black oxide kit to redo the cv shafts,drive cups and some screws as I hate to throw out good parts due to a bit of rust. Looks like a straight forward process and I'll report back when I have started that process.

That's a cool process. So do you have to sand down the parts? Like whatever coating is on them now?

I'm not 100% sure black oxide will stick to black oxide already there, so I'd scuff the oxide off if your wanting to redo something.

I'd be using steel wool and Scotch brite just to remove the surface rust on the parts I want to redo. In the process it will remove the layer of black oxide so in order to protect the parts again, that's why I want to do this and applying something to prevent rust on a spinning part is going to be a struggle.

Black oxide is literally beating nature to the punch and your oxidizing the part before it can't naturally happen in the form of rust. Anodizing is forming the same oxide layer which doing this chemically creates an anesthetic appearance.

One of these are great for small parts clean up and worth it when they go on sale for 50% off. Store is the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. Harbour Frieght. I’ve found it useful for many items.

@Bizzer that is an excellent idea. What kind of media do you use to help clean parts?

I’ve got some plastic media and some ceramic that works pretty well.

@Bizzer I know those tumblers are usually to polish but I'm wondering if sand or some sort of loose grit can clean what i want to re do

Yeah you can get some carbide grit that is more aggressive, like the stuff they used to use in old school spark plug cleaning machines. I have thought about trying it myself.

Well this mild/stock build is about wrapped up here. I just have to install the front shock socks and its ready to go. I got a good deal from a LHS for the ffrc shock socks, I paid 10 bucks but the kicker was they were for a baja 5b and they were red. I bought some black rit dye and dyed them black and I do have to say they fit much better than the ones made for the 5t.
