And in the case of 2 stroke race engines, wrapping the pipes with insulation keeps max exhaust gas temps. The hotter the gasses, the more flow = more efficient scavenging = more peak power.

Its a bad idea if you run in wet conditions as it will accelerate the rusting and eventually rot a hole in your pipe

Only if it wet when ya done if you giving it WOT pretty positive it won't stay wet for long

since u didnt see it in my other thread, I am taking temps after wot runs, and also what are normal engine temps?

To apply header wrap you have to soak it in hot water then wrap it while its wet. And you need stainless steel zip ties for header wrap....I wrapped the header pipe on my KTM years back so I didn't burn my leg in shorts

Should always keep the first few inches unwrapped however I never fully confirmed whether or not it's true that it helps performance a bit. I just heard from some old racers. Could be urban legend.
