Hpi shock oil

Hey all
Please who knows the story about why no silicone oil in hpi shocks?

If memory serves me correctly it’s because of the seals. But no one pays attention to that, as seals need changing anyway over time.

So if u rebuild and want to use normal oil u need to strip...fully clean...new seals ?

Nah, just keep a spare set. When it starts leaking bad change it.

The red ones in the shock bottoms are a funny size, and when I’ve tried others they just leak straight away. I’m sure if you try hard enough you’ll find a manufacturer that’ll do them out of nitrile or whatever to suit us, but I can’t be fecked as I have spares.
