We gonna get to see any video of them ski's? I really really like that look and am curious how they worked out:p

Yeah I'll post it up when I've edited it with some other footage. It does look good, secret is not to go stupidly fast with the skis on, I was pleasantly surprised how responsive it was with them on. I'm now working away again for while so the vid will have to wait I'm afraid until I get home :-(

Hi,
Just a quick question as I too bought the same car and got it about the same time but still ain't managed to get it running right out of the box. Have you still got the std carb on it?
Nice ride btw!!!

Hi, thanks for that, I was intent on changing its looks a little asap :-)

yeah it fired up as standard with it's 23cc, the carb settings weren't quite what I'd seen before so I adjusted them to what I had on my FG's in the past and it went after a little while. When I first checked the engine prior to starting, it had been run, or at least there were signs of fuel in the engine?? anyway, I'd ordered a zenoah 29cc big bore kit so once I knew the magneto and carb worked I stripped it down and changed things a little more.

I'll tell u one thing I noticed when stripping it, in-between the carb and engine there's a block, this ofcourse has gaskets on either side of it, check one of em isn't upside down blocking one of the small holes ;-)

Hope it helps mate!

Thanks for the info, mine starts ok but soon changes when it's warm and I end up richening like there is an air leak and I noticed that the bolts holding the airfilter on actually come out and push into the cylinder!

Eh?? So the filter bolts protrude into the cylinder liner? :-/ I've just looked on my 23cc block and the air filter mounting bolts don't enter the cylinder space at all, there is also a small port at the bottom of the air inlet.. This is what covered by my upside down gasket. What happens to the performance of it when it's warm? There's a useful thread on here about tuning these engines, really useful too, may help and sort out the problem! I think it's on the "large-scale forum" page, then general?? I'll have a look now...

Yeah look on the largescale forums page, then the third link down is for the engines, it's the first sticky thread on there, explains a lot! Hope it works out ok for ya :-)

yeah i see what you mean now... so the machined screw is making contact with the front of the cast block and isn't taking up the remaining "float" so it's not tight. depends which air filter you're running i suppose, and/or if something's missing... i changed mine to a foam filter, my 2 bolts don't go so far beyond the lock nuts, maybe worth you putting one or two washers behind the screw heads to help bring them back a bit.

how's the engine running now?

Just to let u know, I reassembled the original 23cc that came with the car to see if the machined screws make contact with the block, mine don't.. You never know, when the car was manufactured the maker may have taken slightly longer bolts, or worst - missed something out from inside the filter housing!!
Best of luck :)

Those look like Bow-Ties! That's what I have, now I'm just waiting for the damn car to arrive, and the big bore kit, and the tribal body, and the spur, and, and, and, .... oh, but the Futaba radio showed up tonight!

Glad I went clone so I could afford the hop-ups easier.

lol.. yeah, they're money pits alright! the bow ties really do give superb grip on the loose, chucks grass n mud everywhere, HA! good lookin wheel i think too :) where did you order your car from Lins? i got mine from RChobbies, only took em 1 day for delivery. you've no doubt read all about these things and how people jabber on about stripping them down, when i stripped mine down everything was greased and fairly tight, just the odd screw here n there which was not quite tight enough. helps you to learn the car too!! the only adjustment i've made was the brakes.

I ordered mine from new york, and I am in Northern Canada. It typically takes 10 days to 3 weeks to get shipped/cleared customs, etc....
