I apologize. I did not mean your post. Your question is legit. I cleaned the thread and was talking about the cleaned posts. The party/parties involved are the ones I was talking too.

There are tons of ONLINE places to buy, EBAY you have one over there. Its all in how you want to spend your money. Buy an HPI it probably is the best, i have one, i've had MCD, FG, Bergonzoni, Kings motors, they all have there issues. ITs your money spend it how you wish.

Forgot to tell ya guys.....

Last Weds. before I left town , both my used baja 5b SS and my son's brand new km baja came in.

I took the KM out of the box to look it over , I was very impressed how close of a copy this thing is...I was a bit let down on one thing , the sad little stock pipe on it as I thought it included the tuned pipe like I have on my SS ! Oh well , I guess that gets added to the after market parts list.

Before I put it away to head out on my trip , I snapped a few pictures of both the new rides so you can see them side by side....if it was not for the HPI stickers on my baja...you could not tell which brand was which.

The SS pipe is OK but will not give as much as a true tuned pipe.
Make sure you tear down the KM like in the KM preview thread. You will get a great apreciation for the build after seeing how easy it is to tear down and rebuild.
Also check the rear diff on the HPI as well and make sure its got fluid..
Looks like you are set until upgrades start. :D

I couldnt believe how easy it looked to take apart Rossco's Baja. Compare to my FG which is still easy to work on its a walk in the part. So quick and easy.

Id seriously consider getting one down the line.

Thanks BTB , I already found the KM had little if any shock oil in any of the shocks..what weight do you guys recommend for normal yard bashing..no track racing ?

Also , BTB , I have not heard the KM start yet as its an xmas gift , but I sure hope it sounds like my 5b with stinger style "tuned" pipe...I love that 125cc dirt bike sound.

So far his KM has a full set of HPI baja 5b SS arms and shock towers , redneck filter , outerwears air filter cover , pull start cover , flywheel cover , full set of HPI rims and tires , FFRC windshield/side window kit , HPI 5t spark plug protector/handle and in the mail is a set of black shock covers.....next will be to replace the wear out parts in the clutch , gears and other drive line stuff....and when its time , I will replace the 23cc with an HPI 26cc.

Hey guys , sorry its been a long time since my last post before the holidays , been VERY busy.

Well everything went great , my son Tyler LOVED his King Motors buggy and has ran it almost every day since he got it on the 24th. Only issue with the buggy was the sterring linkage came loose 2 times and we put thread lock on it...no more issue!
Also the rims did break pretty easily , but that was fixed quickly as I had already bought him a full set of HPI rims , so again no more issue .
The buggy needed very little tuning and has held that set up since the first day , it starts up very easily and runs great.....I would very gladly buy another King Motors buggy for half the cost of an HPI.
I will be purchasing a King Motors T-1000 truck before Spring for myself , instead of the HPI 5t.
I will download pictures to my laptop and post them up later of him opening up the buggy..

who is the clone?

hello , my name is nick and i live in greece.
i bought a kingmotor baja almost 2 years ago directly from china.
it cost me almost the 1/2 of the price the ... original hpi had in greece including the taxes and shipping.
the first thing i notice was that is was almost the same as hpi.
that made me thing...
how tells me that hpi isn't make it's own in china ?
how tells me that km isnt making the original...hpi for hpi or even some parts?
this is not a crazy thought , most of the products we use are made is asian countries .even harley davidson is about to make a production industry in India.
i am a salesman in an import company and i notice that all the products we sell are made in prc (china) although we buy them from europian groups.all have a great brand name but they are made in prc and they are original .so why not hpi?
beside all that hpi has it's reasons to fight the clones.
they had the idea , they spent their money for making and develop , they have to sell their own parts and cars and they have to say they are the best...
my ...clone never broke although i treated it hard ,and i use only km parts .
they are chip and very good.
so i ask... who is the clone?
sorry for my bad english...

Your English is good mate. Anyone who can speak read & write in more than 1 language deserves credit :cool2:
It wouldnt be a big surprise if HPI actually make 1 of these clones. If they do it gives them a bigger target audience and potentially a bigger market share. The competition at entry level is hotting up now with the likes of KM, ShengQi, XRC etc and they can all get you up and running for a lot less money than the original HPI 5b or 5t. Yes the quality of some plastics may not be up to the standard of HPI but the fact that you can fit HPI or FG spares makes them a more attractive proposition.

I suppose its a similar situation to VW buying Skoda. Skoda was always laughed at for its poor quality but the Octavia now shares the same platform and general parts bin as the Golf. You could say the Octavia is now a Golf clone as is the Seat Leon.

i,ve got a sq baja it it cost me £370 new you do have to check a few things b4 you run them there by no means r,t,r . as for the plastics being weaker i,am still running the same front and rear arms, and original servos, been looking at the kingmotor 29cc baja maybe for the summer if we get 1:clown:

Just got my king 5b, BTB, last month. took it out one day to run in a parking lot but being february it was a little cold out. Ran great and started up on the 2nd pull. I was surprised. Cant wait to get a tuned pipe for it. I had one unusual problem though. While I was running it The throttle servo started glitching like crazy. So I brought it in close for a minute and was fooling around with the radio and discovered that if the antannae was completely out it would glitch but if I closed it down the glitching would stop but of course I could only drive it like 5 feet from me? Has anyone else ever had something like this happen.

My steering servo has a serious glitch it worked for one time on a stool. It has yet to be ran and i need a new servo which the guy i got it from is sending me.

All in all from what i have read i think once i get the car on the ground and running i will be happy. My car showed up with a broken rear hub and the servo is crap as i stated. Will update when i actually get it running!
