what are you guys using to keep the exhaust flange from backing out? I seem to keep having this issue even with red loctite. Are there different style nuts to use?

I used blue loctite and gave it 2 days to cure no issues on my 65 and 50
You can try a longer bolt and use a second nut. I also seen people drill a hole for a pin behind the nut

Get metal lock nuts

I use lock wire and lockwire nuts

If you notch the left side of that flange you can put a cap head screw in there with holes for lock wire also

Thx for the replies. Im gonna try to dig into it tonight and see if it was the nut or the stud.
On a side note my vekta 5 with obr 32 has a turtle racing clutch in it and so far not a good experience with it. Ive used loctite per the instructions and it seems to always back out. Im gonna just put the normal clutch in it. And their pull start was nothing but headaches as it would bend the recoil speing after a few pulls.

Get a f/s clutch off ddm it will be the last small block clutch you will ever need and yea I looked at tr clutches once and was told not to get it.. im still on my original pullstarts on both rigs I just made cables for them instead of the rope

Looks like it was the studs that are backing out. Anyone have any ideas for them. Im gonna try to clean the threads real good and reapply red loctite.

Red loctite softens with heat.

If you use the metal lock nuts with wire the studs won't move on you..or drill small holes in the studs and wire them since they are what moves

Had a rollover on turf turning around… didnt think it was that bad til i seen a fin on the head got bent. All part of bashing.

Yes plug cap was fine. This 65 totally rips even with a 990 carb on it. Need to try the permatex that crucialrc recommends beacuse the studs keep backing out.
