Greetings and hello all,

Has anyone here tried to build a light weight Baja?

I’ve ordered a load of carbon bits [Uber chassis] and I intend to build the lightest Baja possible within reason. I’ve had to order FLM arms but I would have preferred the plastic Kraken items but can’t find them for dust.

I’m going to plumb for an Oddified engine 30.5cc again to keep weight down.

I want to do something different to big bores and twins. I love them but they have been done a lot.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Cheers,

Milo

Hey Spents,

I was speaking to Biscuits today, I hope he has Ti layshaft he can spare me, that will be going into my build. I don’t want to sacrifice my other. Also trying to buy a PCSC with some luck, got most of the bits but no spur gear carrier.

These Bajas seem to be disappearing fast.

yeh miles a few have tried lightweight baja, myself included ,
lightest i ever managed was 14.2kg if i remember right, thats with aftermarket parts and a few stock hpi parts,
my blue rail weighs 14.6kg ,
you're gonna get frustrated i reckon though, you think it weighs a lot less , then ya weigh it and say ah crap :ROFLMAO:,
and yeh the kraken x2 \nd x2e arms were discontinued miles, not sure why they discontinued em cos there spot on,
i think jason at silverback still has some x2 arms in stock, but not the x2e extended ones,

yeh ti shaft will save a few grams miles, but the pcsc is heavy mate, much heavier than lightened steel spur and carrier, or plastic spur and carrier,
not heard owt from biscuits for ages , hope he's doing well,
carbons the way to go though for sure somewhere around 30-40% lighter than alloy(y)

He’s all good mate,

still got his shorty, he said he hasn’t changed his hostile spur in 9years of use. That’s not too bad ??

He’s also got some wicked 5T with a DBXL body on it that took him ages to modify to fit.
Power to weight is the way to go for all round usage I think.

But that is just my opinion and like the saying goes..................
Why the hell has RPM never made extended arms. It’s beyond me.
Thank you gents,

I’ll post pics of the parts as they arrive.

Is there a “What did the postie bring today“ thread? I can’t remember seeing one on this forum.

Hey Paul,524E1E03-49ED-4E92-9D56-496F74555139.webp
I said I’d post a pic of Bass666 bodies. I’ve got all the bits still, matching spoilers and nose pieces.

Weight saving and durability would be a tradeoff. I bought the lightened scorpion chassis thinking I was doing something and it was like 500g heavier than the dexrc chassis all the dragster bajas have. But I wouldn't dare use that on an offroad rig. First cartwheel and she would be trash.

You and Mr Doug need to keep up the YouTube content, it is saving us during this lockdown shite.
I just wanked a carbon part?View attachment 69178
Id go the kraken chassis rather?? cf is great but not on impact ?
I’ve got one of them too. I’m going for the lightest of light if possible.
