cool..how much are they if you don't mind me asking?

Just checked my PM's for the price & it was £30 but I collected cos I was working nearby (Portsmouth). He will post for approx £13. These were the prices at Christmas so PM him if you are interested.

not bad at all...I will have to keep that in mind at a later date i want to have a second car setup similar to you and I like the idea of a group b rally car failing that a beetle..

Im taking it away for the summer hols when we go in the camper van. Will go down well with the veedub crew :cool2: The 3 kids are taking their Lunchboxes so it will be RC heaven :D Bro in law is taking his quad and want to have me a race up the beach........Im feeling a win coming on here :lol: so long as he doesn't run over it like the vid on youtube :scared:

Picked up my layshaft tuning brake from Ross Mods today :clap::clap::clap: Shame Im busy for the next 2 weekends :crying::crying:

Yeah right :lol::lol::lol::lol:
The postman came today....... I was a few screws short so rather than botching it up I went thru the Marder parts list & ordered 20 of everything so got more than enough now :lol: Thought about ordering 1 of the £38 sets from Wheelspin models but found an online place called Orbital Fasteners. I paid £27 including next day delivery so excellent deal me thinks :w00t: Ok the self tappers are BZP rather than self coloured but who cares :D

OOOOh that looks nice..I bought the stainless box from wheelspin and it has been great..only used what was required and got loads left over for future repairs..

screw colour has never bothered me either...cant see them flat out or when covered in mud..:lol::lol:

I just wish I had enough money to order parts as required (between contracts at the moment so skint)

You can never have too many screws :D
What do you do for work? Are you self employed?

Sadly yes I'm currently working as a house renovation expert :lol::lol:

I'm a builder...lol
but we do specialise in listed building renovations..finished 1 about 6 weeks ago and planning was knocked back on the next one so we could have another 6 weeks for the next job...but I might have a few bit here and there..

needless to say I'M SKINT..

I am originally a hydraulic engineer so I do have a fair mechanical knowledge but got fed up with the oil baths :lol::lol:

Im a fabricator by trade but now self employed project / site manager depending on whats available. I work mainly on hospitals but its very quiet at the moment. I have work til July but after that who knows.

I think most people are the same..I worked in hydraulics for 7 yrs then mechanical fitter for 4 yrs then complete retrain as a setting out /surveying engineer(also doing site management)5yrs then said sod it all and lets build houses...lol. I have a few things I can fall back on but sadly there is just no work out there...but I must have my toys...:lol::lol:

at least you got time to play with them now :w00t:

That is the usual..plenty of time and no money or money and no time..lol
at least I have had the chance to give it a good rebuild and sort out alot of the crap. I will replace the wheel squares when I next order and will have a look at a rear brake..maybe my 3rd channel can launch a brick of the back ...lol

Engine is in now with layshaft tuning brake fitted......had to do a bit of fettling to make the engine mount fit but got there in the end!! Still need to align it properly but will do that tomorrow night. Will get the updated pics posted in the morning cos Im too tired now  Should be up & running soon but out this weekend so will have to wait a bit longer

I need to take the engine out again as Im not 100% happy with the set up & gear mesh between pinion & spur. There is a definite tight spot but Ive checked the teeth and there is no obvious damage so Im thinking the layshaft is bent slightly. The ratio is correct at 18/46 so no problem there either. With the number of problems found at strip down and the heat that had been generated in this area Im not surprised the shaft is bent :scared: Ah well simple fix!!

Whilst its out I also need to file a bit more off the engine casing so the large mount sits better. It got late and it was just a do but that is not good enough!!!

Here is a warning boys & girls...........
This is a pic of the air intake on the original engine that came with the marder :scared: It clearly shows the poor filtering quality of the K&N style filters when running in dusty / sandy conditions. It wasnt oiled either which would have made things worse but you can imagine what the internals will be like after hoovering half the beach up

have a look at the little lugs that hold the engine to the large mount mate, the rear one should have a kink in it! i had a similar fault the first time i rebuilt mine after the runaway, i thought it was bent due to the crash but when i straitened and refitted it the gears where really tight

It should have a cut-out like this but cos its a CY meant for a baja it doesn't have it. Dremmel time!! I frigged it by packing it out with M5 washers just to try it but will do a proper job tonight. Also at the back of here it needs the casting filing back to allow the mount to sit correctly. I did this last night but needs a bit more taking out as its a bit tight as it is. You can see in the pic, the old mount was trimmed back which weakened the bearing housing & fecked it up.
