First I did dry wall joint tape and shoe goo to the whole body, then I just had to put the vinyls to be honest I like it.
Then the most important mod I needed was a carb return spring!
This one is from an 86 trans am, but any gm carb spring would be the same. My stock carb kept sticking open intermittently then full time. Much more to do and will share as soon as doing the mods

Definitely used the kill switch many times when the carb stuck, plan on redoing the wiring and probably try a fly sky noble. I was watching the brake servo move just sitting idling, I could just imagine if the throttle servo went nuts. Maybe getting rfi due to proximity to plug???

You are correct. There is a rubber boot plug available to help fox this. Primal has a video up ln YouTube for it. 👍👍

Saw the cap on primal, it also said I would need a different spark plug for that cap. Got the parts from a local small engine shop and when I tried to put the new plug into the cap it was a no go, tried it on the stock plug and it fits. Also checked the gap of the plug that comes in the engine and is way to closed
The metal shielded stock plug cap has 5k stamped on it, meaning it also is a resistor cap, same spec as the rubber one.
Somedays it seems like you just chased your own tail all day and never caught it.
The primal manual says plug gap 28, but when I check for a pocket bike 49cc it says 20 to 25.

Great info here...thank you...
@owen_primalrc you guys aware of this?

Well it does state that this truck is for experienced drivers. So they hope we'll fix all the cheap cuts they made to keep it affordable. It's up to us to be sure it's safe to use. When I got my baja 5b I don't think a safety kill existed? I never and still don't have one, shhhhh, never had a run away or glitchy servos, and no resistor plug cap???
I must be crazy but I want to mod the stock engine, got a 1107 carb, carbon fiber reeds, gasket kit for the engine, and I'm trying to find just a thinner head shim, all ordered from a pocket bike parts supplier, also plan on trying to get some rpms before movement by putting a bit more curl on one end of the clutch springs, then make a better carb throttle linkage. Also seems I'll have to change all the servos and rewire and put a better on off switch. Got my work cut out for me but I can't stop now, there's no way to recoup what this truck costs so just have to keep spending. Personally I feel this truck is unsafe to use, at least it does come with a kill switch, and needs it, I have shown the truck to only a few friends and I tell them all to stay far away unless they want to fix it. But I and everyone that sees it thinks it looks awsome. I already spent as much for hop ups to my vekta as it costs and my baja needed metal in places it came with plastic, so maybe that's the best parts of RC, make it work the way you need. If you can't, just stick to 1/10 rock crawlers. Lol

Got enough parts to merit a little disassembly, got the carb, reeds and gaskets ... but now for some custom fabrication for a throttle linkage and some attempt to shorten the clutch springs. It all seemed like a good idea in my head, but now to bring the idea to life is the important part to make it right so its better and not worse. Fingers crossed
Found some brake pads, maybe from my baja, and got an idea ... that bubble burst pretty fast cause they're not the right bolt pattern. Need to find more stuff to order!

Oh goody! I mean it, did some investigating to see what I need to do in the wiring box, found out the servos are direct powered to the main switch. So all the v3's must have had this update to relieve the receiver of all those amps. Personally I don't see how the wiring is going up in smoke unless the wires are pinched as the metal cover is reinstalled and the huge bundle of wires don't get all in.... I know this is tough cause I myself managed to pinch the voltmeter wires the first time I closed it but caught it time!

Had a few parts come in and a few ideas of what to do, so things are moving along slowly but surely and the sofa is still just a one seater. Had ideas of a solid link for the throttle but it was getting complicated to make the dream a reality, so this little bracket may be the answer to use the cable again. Besides motocross, motorcycle, atv's... use cables???
When it was together my throttle would stick and the slightest touch with a screwdriver to the carb would make it snap closed, the huge v8 carb return spring eliminated run aways, but now that it's apart in my hands the carb moves freely??? don't care, stock carb is going in the scrap cause without a choke I need to put the truck on its nose, remove the air filter and block the carb with one hand and reach around to yank on the cord with the other! Looks ridiculous and it won't be long before I break 'myself' doing that. on the 1107 carb I can adjust the low speed needle, the stock carb has it preset compared to others the same type that have a screw, not mention the stock choke that even primal shows you how to take off in the manual so you don't suck in dust, dirt, water. I love to test stuff just to see what happens

I think I'm enjoying posting about it just as much as anxious to use it. If anybody gets any ideas or laughs from it, even better!
I completely agree, it feels like when you admit your mistake and talk about you will not commit that same mistake twice, otherwise you're an idiot, which sometimes I can be....

Also I love all the mods people have shared, like the diff cup lock nuts and the brass bushings. Amazing stuff! It makes me want to do more with my truck.

Still working a bit at a time, got the carb on, needed to change the hole location for the vacuum hole in the intake then block the hole for the original carb, using the new carb gasket as a guide made it easy. I was looking for epoxy to block the intake but found this Q bond kicking around and it worked perfect. A few coats of powder then the liquid and a wee bit of fileing and it was good and flat. The throttle cable bracket came with a cable attachment but goes on the opposite side and needed a bigger hole to fit, just made it, the bracket also came so close to the fan housing a little dremel adjustment was needed. clutch springs off and just need to decide how to curl one end a bit more. So far so good but that can change as fast as you turn around

Ouhps!!@#&*
I gave it 90% chance of this happening, springs don't like heat!
First one snapped like a twig but then I was so sure it would work I kept going and did the two others no problem. Luckily I have the keep everything desease and this break spring gives me hope. Hole clutch is 25$ on pocket bike canada, 16 amazon, or I can get 9 springs loose on ali express for 1.66$ so worst case I have a couch buddy for I while. Lots of other projects on the go anyway
Anybody ever try a clutch for a liquid cooled pocket bike, same as stock but has threaded ajustements for spring tension. Outer specs I can find are the same but can't find width depth or shaft diameter specs, for 35$ I'm tempted to be the Guinee pig
