yep certainly is :D and beleive it or not its an all elcon one!

i removed the radio tray last night and drowned it in CT-18 for hours, whenever it dried id give it another coat with ct-18 and really let it sink in.

then hit it with a hose (don't have pressure washer) and every single bit of dirt just fell off it, might be expensive but CT18 works damn well.

then hit it with the compressor and got all the water off it, going to drown it in RP7 tonight. will be interesting to see how the bearings hold up to all the mud and water.

in the box of spares u sent me Kane there was a heap of rubber sealed bearings so im assuming most of the bearings on the vehicle is rubber sealed. i can just clean and repack if the fail.

radio tray is still covered in mud, don't like hosing them down, going to have to get a rag tonight and clean it slowly then see why I can do with the steering slop. ill try and get some pics as im doing it, might help someone address this problem in the future.

didnt know that, thanks pipe! ill do that in future!

alright did some work on the beast again last night, decided to have a look at the steering slop.

first thing I had to do was clean the tray coz it was flithy! then removed the saver from the radio tray, just removed the two bolts that go into it, added 2 o rings as the pics shows.

wanted to also put a new spring on it coz ive got a spare and i think this one has lost allot of its tension but couldnt get the nut off the bottom, the shaft just kept spinning. tried using a bolt from the top, vice grips u name it I couldnt get it off, is there a trick to it?

all installed and back in the baja. going to have a look at the pull start tonight coz thats being tempramental ATM.

where's the c-clip?

coz it went back on exactly like shown? should I remove the radio tray and tighten something before I take it for a run?

That's not a nut on the bottom, it's part of the shaft, that whole piece slides out the bottom if you want to get it apart. often there is a c clipon that shaft just above the servo saver

had another great run over the weekend, ran two tanks and it didnt miss a beat.

ive decided though im going to start with this and then drive my 4WD, not like last weekend, ran the 4wd, then drove this and did nothing but do circle work LOL, really showed me my lack of talent LOL

Ran the beast on sat at the VOLS meeting, clocked 57 kph. going to look into what the next gearing up is and test that.

this thing has heaps of power and is uncontrollable on hardpack off the line, so gearing it up would make it a little more controllable plus more top end :D

Ran a tank on sunday as well at the old carrum spot. had my first failure. bolt ripped out of the front upright, weirdly though it was the top bolt! And I didnt even roll it or anything. I was pretty far away from the car so just did it finger tight and kept running the tank LOL. might add some spring washers to keep the bolts in place.

for a first failure this is nothing, this thing has been so reliable, really pleased! :D

decided to have another go at removing the steering servo, here's what I did.

first removed the radio tray from baja.
ServoSaver1Small.webp

then removed the saver from the radio tray, slid the shaft out of the saver, no e clip was in there so it just slid off.
ServoSaver2Small.webp

next i pulled of the spring, considering how flogged out it was it pretty much fell off!
ServoSaver3Small.webp

this shows the difference between old spring and new! speak for itself!

had to use a vice to get the new spring on. only used 1 oring when I put it back together too as the new spring looks like its more than enough to get rid of the slop!

ServoSaver5Small.webp

didnt get any pics putting it back together, pretty much the same as removal but opposite LOL.

haven't tried it yet but feeling it by hand looks like its going to be spot on. also used a e clip when I put it back together.

thanks heaps BTB, luckily I had one spare, but none anymore, so will get some of these and keep them.

they must wear quicker on the alloy units as my 4wd running a stock saver has no slop and ive done 60+tanks in that.

The circlip that Brian is talking about is the same size as the wishbone pins and another 'mod' for your servo saver instead of using the 'o' rings, is using one of the rubber cush drives you have on the spur gear.

pipe, the spring on my 4wd has never been changed, done over 60 tanks and there's no slop in it. i got a feeling the alloy set up is just allot harder on the spring.

brawn, if you think im hard on this you should see what the previous owner put this thing through! i can get some vids for you if your interested.

i don't think im harsh on any of my rc's, sometimes I do something and it break and I think yeah that was a bit much. but in saying that my rc's get ALLOT of usuage. The only time ive missed a weekend of using them is when ive been overseas, which was once in the last 12 months. other than that in the last 18+ months since I started in large scale ive never gone more than seven days without using em.

Some weekends I would do 8+ tanks in one day in my 4WD:D
