Its dirty and BROKEN again....

barrel rolled it at speed and I have bent the rear wing and rear section of the roll cage....and the exhaust came loose so had to call an end to my fun as I don't want any hassle for noise...

no pics as I had to call it quits early

It was fun while it lasted but its back in the workshop awaiting repair
 
the cage is just stressed.you can see the black plastic has white stress marks in it now..I will release it and see if it goes back to normal..the wing is alloy so I will just beat that with a hammer...:lol:

not too worried about it...at least no trees jumped put in front of it...that's bad:lol::lol::lol:
 
Well a quick beat with the hammer and a tweak here and there and it was sorted:w00t::w00t::w00t:

Had it out for a blast this afternoon when a mate who I used to race against came round..He is impressed with it and had a quick blast himself...(I know he can drive them)

Its dirty but complete and in one piece

Yep all used and abused...lol.

it was a successful run as nothing got broke just dirty..lol

might see if I can venture out again today for a bit..

not going far or anywhere with public as the kill switch still has not arrived yet..I will feel better once it is fitted.(its got a fail safe but they are not bullet proof)
 
LMAO...never heard the postie today...my new kill switch was sat on the floor waiting..

cheers Ben ....I ordered the peco. oh well time to take the pullstart off again and get this thing wired up and set up..it is bloody tiny...


Any body just running front cable brakes??
these are almost useless as they lock up and skid or if I back them off they don't work well enough...I cant win...Got to get me a layshaft brake too.

Arrrrgghghhhhhh!!!!! A hairy baja :lol::lol::lol::lol:
 
well I gave it a shave and took it out for another blast..the brakes still need looked at all or nothing...had a little roll with it and the front cage has cracked through again so going to make up one with solid bars instead of tubes...not paying for tubes every time I take it out.
also seem to have a problem with 3 bolts coming loose despite a blue locktite bath..

great fun though and no major breakages this time.

You need to invest in a layshaft tuning brake mate - they are well worth the money (£30) and are 100 times better than stock (or a million times better than the elastic band round the clutch bell that yours had on :lol::lol:). I tried running with just front cables before I upgraded the layshaft brake and it was very unbalanced under braking especially on a rough surface.

Which bolts keep coming loose?
 
the top steering post bolt and the 2 for the front end rear bulkhead...I have tapped them out and thread look good refitted with plenty of blue ..left it 24hr then had a blast and they are loose again

if they come loose yet again I'm going to drill them out and go up to m5 to see if that helps..not sure what he has had screwed in..found self tappers screwed into alloy so he may have buggered the threads...

soon as funds allow I'm going to order a layshaft brake ..I'm also going to sit down and have a little think and see if I can get the fronts to work a bit better..

Are they the top bolts for the suspension mount or the c'sink screws thru the chassis? If the top screws, try a spring washer & if chassis screws try changing to pan heads or button heads with a spring washer.
 
yep its the counter sunk ones underneath. not sure if I want the heads to be proud of the chassis though.bad enough with the engine bolts..taken a head of one of them already.lol

might be easier to make it m5 and have done with it..

my leo ones where the same mate, just did as andy said and never come loose since ;) they don't stick out that far either ;)
