I have filled the diff with the FG diff grease. I filled it about 3/4 of the diff to get some locking in the diff :) How are ur setup on your marder/baja?

BTW not getting lot of responses here :o

looking good...

I have packed out my diff to be practically full..only problem is the diff is not sealed so the grease will slowly seep its oil out ...as you build it you need to use silicone to seal the diff up...I have done this but it has started to leak again..

mine is now all alloy apart from the servo saver..

great car and alot of fun...

oh and its been very quiet round here recently....

Yeah, I've heard about that leaking problem :P But if you seal it can you open it again? I have read your rebuilding thread too! Heh.

BTW The reson for I've not been writing for a few days is becouse I am with my father for the weekend. (Divorced parents living in different towns :P ) I come home on Sunday and if it is not raining on Monday I will take it out for a spin!!

yeah it can be spilt open again quite easily.. you only have a very thin layer of silicone left in the diff only for sealing so it should come apart....I haven't got round to stripping mine yet though..

also got an alloy diff to fit up now which is sealed with o rings..

Nice Job Ravn!! Like the video. Well I was thinking of getting a Baja competition. I have heard it more of racer than a basher from some. But I have seen cool videos on line. Why do some have 2 steering servos on them? I know why. Is that by owner preference? I like 4wd discs. I'm only a basher as of right now. Have a chance to get a competition for 1300.00 with single steering servo and cable discs brakes. It also comes with parts to convert to the monster Truck. Wheels shock tower and Body. What are your thoughts. And also What are your thoughts on Nutech Thunderbolt 2?

That offer sounds great to that price. But I've heard that the 4wd isn't good. Some say it is, some say it is not. I have never tried the 4wd system, but people say that too much dirt is getting to the belt. It needs alot of maintenace on the 4wd system But you should ask somone else than me. There is a thread thats about 4wd competiton baja. You should read that, and decide if you want 4wd. If you "like" maintenace you should get it.

I have no experience with Nutech, but I would recommend stay away from China brands. If you never had an 1/5th scale before, you should start with a quality brand like FG, HPI or Losi.

And the 2 servos are for extra power. The big on is less powerfull than 2 expensive normal size servos :D

Hope that clear your questions :lol:

I will see if i can get some silicone sealing:lol:

Ravn' Thanks for your answer. I don't mind a little maintenance. Yeah I see the design of the belt being covered. I think simply it could covered on the sides with something as simple as black electrical tape. I Have a HPI Baja. Wanted something different. In the automotive industry The black Mopar silicone Is awesome. About 30.00 bucks a tube. But will have enough to last you forever in RC.

Here is a little update.

I have put the alloy engine mounts on now. I have not yet taken my engine in the car yet because I am going to make my self custom mesh for the engine crankcase. I have one question to that. What can i use to make the mesh stay there? :D Can I solder it or will that be too weak or can I even use glue?

Here are some pictures of the engine and the car :lol::lol:

heh, to fast to clean it!:lol: No, just kidding. Sometimes i don't even bother doing it, but it isn't THAT dirty :D

I used araldite...an epoxy 2 part glue
IMAG0490.webp

so far it has held up perfectly..
soldering alloys is rather a specialist and hard to do thing at home..

remember to use blue loctite on the machine threads when screwing them into alloy....my car had some serious misuse and had a huge range of incorrect screws...took me ages to drill and tap all the threads back out to save all the alloy parts...better to get it right first time round.

Okey, I will look for some sealant as some people told me that will work. If the epoxy is cheaper I will buy that :) And yes,
I have used blue loctite on every screws going in allo parts :D

Another update!

I bought the Araldite epoxy glue. I found some mesh that looks like yours wezg, but when I glued the mesh to the engine it looked like a mess :P I am pleased with the finsih, but it looks like a 4 year old did it :D

Picturesssssss!

as long as it is stuck on well and you still have plenty of the mesh still open for the airflow,it should be fine..

remember when its up and running to keep it cleaned out.

Its amazing how much grass gets stuck under the engine blocking the airflow..
I have an airline in my workshop and keep it blown out after every run

Ok, thanks for advice :) I will try to remember to get rid of grass, but I run mostly of my car on dirt:lol::lol:

HOW THA HELL IS THIS POSSIBLE??!!??!

The glue was still very soft when I put it on so in the night the glue ran in to the flywheel! Now the fly wheel is almost locked. I can turn it around, but it is locking a bit.
