some building supplies turned up today i orded them from hobby supplies on the other side of australia, a new seaducer cat strut, some cowel locks, brass stuffing tubes and some water fittings for some thing i want to make up

i got some new radio box lids cut today, i could not get them in colours as the coloured plastic was way to thick, so i drop into the car tint place who did my ford falcon and got some off cuts, not the best way but ill give it ago.

i also droped in to the honda motor bike shop to pick up some oil quickdraw recomend for the qd 25ht motors, small bottles i can only make 5 litres fuel mix per bottle with these at quickdraws recomended mix.

old radio box lids

100_2539.webp

the new clear plastic lids that i just tinted, it turned out ok, looks much better in person as the camera,s flash goes right thru the tint.

the tint is ment to remove 90% of the suns uv rays, it might help keep the elcetrics safe.

good question

well it don't seam like an overwhelming task now.

but in saying that, ive cheated cause this cat was used and had a strut, rudder and factory pre drilled engine mount holes and engine mount holes moved back 1 inch installed.

so all im doing is retro fitting a dual pick up rudder

installing new servos, mount and moving around to a better locations

drilling 1 more water line inlet hole into the hull

drilling 2 more water outlets

installing a new strut

redoing the cowel locks in difrent locations and installing 2 more

installing difrent push rod seals with alloy mounts

installing a tach and tach mount

redoing the stuffing tubes and gluing them into position

rigging up a fuel bag/tank system

drilling a hole for the antenna mount

drilling a hole for the rx switch and moving things around to where and how i want them

making and installing new push rods and bell crank for the throttle an rudder.

install new pipe mounts where i want them.

installing a new qd 25ht motor and pipe combo

and putting on a few stickers.

so im kind of cheatting, its only a half build, or more of a refit not a complete build, and i have not got to the ticky bits yet, but all the resurch and the time im able to take is givng mre more confidence.

befor this cat i didnt feel i was honestly ready to do a complete grund up rebuild, but after this cat, and the disapointment with some rc boat builders and rc boat part sellers i think ill be ready.

i have picked out my next build, and in a month or two ill start collecting the parts needed over time for it.

In the past ive had trouble replacing radio box and radio seals glued on the the hull or radio box, it seams to replace them when they are glued is a bit of a mission and damages gell coat on the hull or and they are dam hard to get off the radio box once epoxyed on.

When i got this cat it had one alloy radio box seal mount on the radio box it for the rubber seal on the throttle push rod, i thought how cool was that idea, and after reading a reveiw on them here

http://www.modelgasboats.com/Magazine_Content/Hardware/Redline_Pushrod_Seal_Mounts/

I thought ill buy a few to, so i can replace all the seals on the cat easly with out damage and run some new ones for the engine kill switch.

Shipping from redline to australia was a bit high going from the paypal check out, but i just payed for it and they where here a short time after, it worked out $10 aud for each seal shipped to me.

Im sure if any one else wanted to buy them from australia, they could just email Mike from redline to get a cheaper shipping qoute, ive found Mike from redline good to deal with and has good communication.

I think there would work great with wooden radio box,s and wooden boxs seam alot easyer to drill, i will be using these seal mount son up and comming builds

Well my servo's for the cat turned uptoday, i was very happy with the price i payed, it worked out $115 aud delivered to my door for both servos.

I purchased them off ebay, since i was in not great rush i payed for them around 2 weeks ago and they got here today, im happy with as i saved around $90 aud from buying these from over seas, but there was a longer shipping time.

The Hs-6254mg for throttle is a tad over kill, but it was the right price, i wanted digital servo's so i can set my futaba 3pm 2.4 ghz radios fail save in the radios menue a set and forget feature, so i did not have to set the radios fail safe manulay each time i turned on the radio and so i wouldnt have to leave my radio on all day, i used to do this, just incase i forgot to reset the failsafe.

So with the radios failsafe set permanently in the radios menue and my modded picco engine kill switch i should be covered with low battery, loose of power and out of range.

Dam good price.....i would much rather have a bigger servo in than one thats to small...as long as its fast enough for what you need

Dam good price i thought, i saved 50% from buying local if you factor in local shipping, so two for the price of one.

The Hs- 5645mg im going to use for the rudder servo is rated at 0.18 seconds for Speed and 12.1kg for Torque at 60 degrees with 6v, not the fastest servo, but i found on my boats sofar is that i have to slow the servos right down, to stop spin out and make the rc boats easyer to controll.

The Hs-5625mg im going to use for the throotle is rated at 0.14 seconds for Speed and 9.4kg for Torque at 60 degrees with 6v, not the fastest servo, but it will be fast enough for me and i can speed it up with my radio if needed but i think it will be fine.

Another good reason to go so heavy duty on the throttle is, so if my Hs-5625mg throttle servo fails i can use my cheap futaba S3003 for a back up throttle servo.

Or if my Hs-5645mg rudder servo fails i can replace it with the Hs-5625mg throttle and use my cheap futaba S3003 for a back up throttle servo, and still have half decent rudder steering power.

well i have a heap of stuff coming still, but the only stuff i need to get it in the water now is the quickdraw 25ht motor im told it will be finshed and sent express this friday if all goes to plan, then all i need is the cc racing orders to get here and they are on the way express shipped.

once i have the cc racing orders i can set up the throttle and rudder servo, install the twin pick up rudder and sort out my tacho mount and push rods, water outlets and seals and so on.

the the other stuff like digital squish band gauge, alloy gas can adaptor, a hard fuel take to try out and some shinny stuff can be installed/used later and are not realy important to get this seaducer cat in the water.

i have also brought a new dremel with 90 degree atachment to help finsh the build and make my life a little easyer this should be here soon as it was brougt from online in australia and i saved good money buying it from online also, but i wont count my chickedn untill its here in my hands and working.

so realisticly the cat is around 3 weeks from being finshed, i need to give around 2 weeks shipping time and around 1 week of time in the shed rebuilign and refitting and give myself some resurch time.

but its getting there, i know this thread is dull cause its going so slow, but ive needed the time to resurch and same as much money as i can to buy the ebst stuff i can as cheap as i can as ive gone over budget by atlest $1200 aud so ive had to wait for some money to come in and sell off some stuff to keep funding this cat liek the rcmk evo motor and qd/red line hot pipe and some used servo,s

it will come together soon, and there will be loads of fisnhed, run pictures and some running vids soon.

well some more stuff turned uptoday, i got my ccr order.

100_2630.webp

and i got a order from tower hobbies for a hard tank and some other odds and ends, i will try out iv bags for the fuel tank and ill try out the hard tank aswell to see whats easyer and what i like using.

100_2631.webp

i can start to get into the build now, just waiting on my dremel, another flexi cable and collard strut bush and the motor from quickdraw then im good to go.

get closer to get out and on the water, ive got a heap done on the boat iver the last couple of days, but a heap more to go, but i cant do most of it untill the motor is here

even though i know the cat ran find with a full mod zen with the motor mounts moved back an inch i changes my mind again lols and i decided to use the stock seaducer engine mount holes, to play it safe, i can always move the engine back if needed, i thought i would just not be slack and play it safe as common sense was telling me the engine needed to be forward.

but i tell you it was a pita to get the blind nuts out of the rear engine mounts and put them in the front stock location holes there is not much room to play with.

100_2633.webp

ill buy more blind nuts and install them incase i need to move the motor back, atlest if i need to move the motor back ive got throttle push rods and a flexi cabel to suit already.

my qd 25ht should be here by the end of the week, hopfuly so will my new drive shaft and dreml so i can get started properly on the cat as all ive been able to do sofar is mount the iv bag. mill the rudder down 30mm and install the servo,s throttle and rudder push rods.

100_2634.webp

i can not do to much more untill my dremel, flexi cable and motor and pipe is here

i got this today in the mail, i was going to use it on another project, but i though might aswell use it on this cat it cant hurt.
