New member here looking for help hopefully in the right forum. Just purchased a rovan 5b 305a 30.5cc buggy. Came with tuned pipe. Went through break in per manual and needles set on high 1.5 and 1.25 low needle. Goes like crazy very surprised by the power even wheelies on occasion. Only issue is at top end it seems to pop or spit almost like a rev limiter. Tried messing with high needle rich and lean but still does it. I will note i have the velocity stack with dt1 tripple filter already installed. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Rich on high needle i assume? Just trying not to blow it up being to lean. Whats everyone setting theres at?

Yeah Rich on the high speed needle. There is no one size fits all settings. Your settings vs mine will differ Because altitude, weather, ect. So you need to tune by sound and smoke. Here's a video to help you with tuning
Skip to 15:34 for tuning ?

Wish he had a pipe on that in the video that ones quiet lol. Mine doesn't sound like that one. Blisters the tires on tar to which makes me think its fine. Maybe its just because of the pipe. I will keep trying with small 1/16 turns. Literally sounds like its missing at high rpm.

I have had alot of dirt bikes/atv two and four stroke. Yes like a four stroke rev limiter. Thanks for all the replies i will try to post a video soon.

I took my Rovan 32 out last weekend and it did something similar. I tried taking some out on the high also. It got better but never got all the way right. I didn't want to go too far with it so I stopped. I chalked it up to Rovan carbs. Get a good Walbro and I'm sure it will clear it up. Welcome by the way??

UPDATE: Problem solved. Before i installed all the outerwears i was disassembling the motor constantly to clean out buildup. While doing this i obviously had to pull the coil. After sleeping on it i pulled it apart and re gaped the coil about 3 mm to 4mm. Now no more rev limiter noise. Now full braaaaap!!!. Thanks everyone.
