Thank you
I'm so frustrated right now that I can't get this motor to line up correctly.

So, I got the motor to line up correctly. Now the issue is that when I pull the starter rope, the wheels try to spin. How (and why) is the clutch engaging?

Did you use Cy only stuff related to the clutch? Your clutch bell and clutch itself is making contact.
The only CY part that I have is the fan housing and the clutch housing also. Forgot that part

Yea I did mention what was needed and all of the links so this issue would be avoided. You still need the clutch carrier and the Cy Clutch and clutch hardware. The clutch housing is not Cy specific also so that doesn't matter.

OK, I get it but it doesn't make sense to me. Why purchase a new motor and then have to replace parts?

You opted to buy a complete Zenoah engine so that's why you need to swap parts, if you bought a complete Cy engine you wouldn't be dealing with this issue. I always buy my engines as a kit and assemble just the long blocks and carry over everything needed to fit it into what I'm building.

Any Zenoah you buy complete will be Zenoah stuff from clutch to flywheel, when the v1 5ive t came out zenoah wasn't available for these yet so it was Cy so you had to use those parts i mentioned.

You can thank 30 degree north for copying the v1 5ive t Cy parts swapping and incorporated it into a rig that is about as new as the 5ive t 2.0. The 2.0 uses everything Zenoah that came on that engine you just bought.

Was there any instructions for this buggy? Did it tell you what was needed to complete it?

Would it be easier to purchase this?
Clutch kit

FYI, I really appreciate the time you're taking with me on this..........
Instructions, yes, specific to the vehicle I bought, no. The "manual" (using it loosely) is more of an instruction manual on how to use the buggy. It's the instructions for the RTR version.
The link you sent over a few days ago for the clutch holder is a duplicate of the clutch hardware.

Ah yes I see, tbh your clutch housing is ok to use there's only 2 measurements that matter and that's how deep the housing is and the other is the mounting to the engine. The engine mounting side is critical to the size of the engine, so the example here is engine sizes 23cc-30cc will use a smaller bolt pattern on the engine flange side as well as a smaller diameter hub bore in the middle and for the g320rc zenoah engine there is a bigger hub bore (center hole around the crank seal) and the mounting flange bolt holes are spaced out wider. So no you cannot change the clutch housing, the clutch housing you have is ok to use you just need the clutch and hardware.

No problem with helping you out, the Cy engine mounting issue your dealing with can be a pain.

Ordered........
So should I reinstall the original Zenoah clutch housing, or just keep the CY one on?

Can you elaborate on zenoah and Cy clutch housing your speaking of? Do you mean the part that holds the clutch or the actual housing bolted to the engine? I ask because Cy does not offer a clutch housing to fit the g320

Hmmmm,
When I brought back the buggy to the RC shop to diagnosis the issue, they gave me a clutch housing(?) that covers the clutch assembly and is bolted to the motor and the chassis. The one pictured is the one that came with the Zenoah, the one they gave me is a hair thinner and doesn't have that bottom "nipple" for lack of a better term.

The nipple is ment for another mounting point to the chassis like the hpi baja uses. The one they gave you does it line up when you try to bolt it to the engine?

My point is the distance between the 2, there's only 1 option for a cast aluminum g320 clutch housing, have a pic of the other one?

This is what I mean, the distance between the mounting holes. The cast one in my picture is from a 26cc cy engine and the billet case is of a g320. My point is you cannot just buy any clutch housing and throw it on there 1000005258.webp1000005259.webp

The other one is attached to the motor now. I can take it apart tomorrow and show you.
Have a good night, 4am comes fast when you have to work.....

Thanks again for your time in this!

Ok here are some pic's.
The one with the clutch bell/pinion has never been changed. That's what came with the engine as did the outer housing with the outer mounting point.

Do me a favor and bolt that all together and see if it lines up on the chassis engine mounting holes. You could be having an issue with that clutch carrier as its a clone, I'm trying to see where your issue is as I've done this many times now with my 5ives but their parts are all losi or zenoah parts not clone stuff.

So what is the carrier? The part mounted to the motor or the one with the pinion? The piece without the extra nipple is the original that came with the motor. The other one is the one the shop gave me because the one with the extra mount didn't line up with the chassis holes.

This is getting very difficult.

The Cy fan cover adjusts the holes to mount to the chassis, that is why I told you that you have to use the cover...... The carrier is the part that holds the clutch bell and has the 4 holes that bolt to the clutch housing. You need to use the clutch housing that came with the engine, thats if you ordered the right one as in did you order the short or long clutch housing optioned engine.

I did use the housing that came with the motor. And yes, it's a CY fan cover too.
