have you got the spacers the right way round? 1 is shorter...

Is the large engine mount the correct 1, and not the 1 for the on roads?

post some pic's Slaw, so we can look and sort it out for ya....

Hey Super...as too the spacers..yes the short 1 placed lower bottom left..2 longer top
each corner....Now as to the engine alloy large mount..it is after market..said would wok for the fierhammer mt...so that would be off /road.....Get me a Fg number for off/road
.....Heres the plan...Fg Chassie pan...Zen clutch case...Fg7474 gear carrier with lay brake
new fg large engine mount....maybe that will make the 2spd work.....As too the 2spd I am not sure if it is on/road or off road....I just read there's a difference...all there is there is clutch bell and 2 pinions...long lay shaft with to spur gears....Only difference I could maybe see is the gearing.......18&20 for pinion gears ...46 & 44 for spur gears...
I think the problem is the clutch case & engine mount.......But seeing how I want all Fg parts...I am going to use the fg chassie pan.....Front end will be all thats left...
I am not sure on the diff mounts...at present I have alloy hobby river....Maybe have to change those as well.......I have alloy raise rear up rights & alloy front up right with cable brakes..........So now any suggestions.....Slawhammer

Trip...hope were correct now on the pan deal.....any ideas would help..thanks..Slawhammer

Any way you could shoot a pic of the bottom?

As far as the CY to Zen clutch housing, there is a spot on the Zen that has been machined. It's a simple cut made with a 1" or 25mm end mill. You could cut it out yourself with a die grinder. Or I guess you could take the easy way and buy one!

I believe (but don't quote me) if you switch to a Zen housing, you will have to switch out the large motor mount also. I still have the stock plastic mounts, I am on my 16th gallon of fuel and my second motor and all the stock plastics are still in good shape.

Trip..I might try a plastic mount again...When I was using the 29CC Billet head engine
it would rip the engine mounts loose....
Picture of bottom what? the chassie pan?
As too the clutch housing ..looks like the mount holes are off for the gear carrier....
using Fg7474 carrier and CY clutch case.......Slawhammer

Chassie Mod

ok ..here's the bottom of the pan...I used steel ..1 1/8 wide...7 inchs long...1/8 thick
went too just in front of the engine.......slawhammer

Full chassie under side

Hey Trip..here is a full shot of the under side...I am sure it is the same as the mut chassie
I feel the FG tapered chassie is a better choice....Slawhammer

Got another goodie for my project....been waiting for this for over 20 days....
used..in good shape..the gears are all worn..so have to replace those before I can
install this 2 speed gear box......I still have to finish getting the engine broke in yet...
forcast looking good all week end....75 to 80 Fri and 75 the rest of the weekend...
so it's hammer time......So I think I have checked this all over pretty good..ready to go
..................Enclosed picture.........Slawhammer...........

Hi slaw...so this is what you have ...yes...

Every thing is there, just bolt it on the engine and job done....(too easy)lol...

Use the plastic engine mount that you got with it and compear it to your alloy 1...

2 spd

hey super..I rebuilt the spd with all new parts to orig..old parts were worn out...
The 2spd came with the Fg7474 gear bracket with lay brake....
I think it is the large alloy engine mount I am currently using.....I will look I think I have a plastic Fg engine mount.....If I will get one......
The plastic mount may solve the issue...........Next rain day I will work on the 2 spd.........Sun is out now ...So I want to get more engine run time......
Oh yeah I forgot too tell ya all I did locate a Fg tapered chassie pan.....
should be shipped on friday of this week.........slawhammer
PS..that mount was cracked and no good.......I think I have another one..when I replaced the orig too alloy....

Engine Mounts

Ok I dug in my rat box of parts..found new alloy & new plastic fg large engine mounts..
I took a couple pictures to compare them...Looks like the plastic sits more up right
so that would make the lay shaft stright.....as to the mount hardware ..that is also angled different..........So next rain day I will switch out or wait till the Fg chassie pan gets here..
....All replies Welcome.....Slawhammer

Looks like that is solved then...should bolt right in now on your new chassie.:celebrate:

Hey super...I will let ya know onthe engine mounts.. as well as every one else on this 2 spd thing...
Now to figure out the dog bones....for the alloy arms...I need 3 inch end to end...
maybe the duratrac diff drive cups are shorter in length as well as the drive cups.....
compared to the FG stuff....I found out the Fg dog bones are 95mm long...as too the 112mm firehammer dog bones.......So I may have to switch all the rear drive stuff...
use Fg diff internals with the drive cups.dog bones.......Internal diff parts are costly...
.........I have not gotten any measurement on the diff drive cups inner or outter....
Any Body have any ideas here on the rear end...I am using a Fg8484 case.......
.............All Replies Welcome........Slawhammer

Hey super..I am not sure but I think the shorter dog bones are for the buggy....
just like on the firemammer....Longer dog bones for the firehammer mt.
I will see what I have when I get the fg chassie pan...It maybe the same as you have..
for length....I am not sure just what I have for rear alloy arms..might be for the cars
and not for the monster truck or beetle....I thought the beetle was off the marder platform?.....That was copied for the firehammer mt.........Slawhammer

The Marder Beetle is from the Marder platform, but the Monster Beetle is the same as the FG M/T...

I can measure the width of the FG tail (the narrow section between the wheels) if you want... I don't know if it will help?

I am not going to worry about the pan..I will sort it out once it have it....
I am not real clear if my front end will mount up on the chassie plate..or my custom roll cage system....I may have to go with plastic Fg front end........I want to gather all the parts I need to make the switch..So I can still be able to get out and run the car.....
Like I mentioned..I can wait tell next winter to redo this project.....and have all summer to play......thanks you guys for all the input...Slawhammer
