Shiny: I was a automotive Tech for 43 years...Taking care of peoples real cars
and trucks..I have always taken pride in my work..I was in a shop of 10 tech's
I had maybe 100 too 200 people ask for me to do there work all the time..
Same goes no matter what I work on..Even this RC Hobby..When some looks
at my firehammer I want to be proud if what I have..Cuz I may get some one
else in to the hobby...A good reliable RC Unit will do just that. It's not just
my firehammer.. I could have any quality brand and do very well showing it
to some one new ..That is intrested in a Gasser,,HPI Baja,FG,you name it
I will do right by the product...Thanks for Your reply..All suggestions welcome

Miss's said"you sure have a lot of tolarence too sit that long and do that work"
Enclosed are a couple pictures ..1 is gas pipe and the other are the files
I have to file the gas pipe to almost half the thickness to fit the wheel hub ..

I notice I'm more patient with my hobby than I am anything else. I would love to be able to sit 5 hours. I get a visit from the 3 year old after 10 minutes and the wifey likes to pop in every half hour or so to see what is going on. I was able to sit in the garage last night and work 2+ hours after everyone went to bed.

Collars look great though! I'm going to try and take out my Baja and Firehammer today. Hope I get some "me" time! :)

By the way, take some pics of your truck with those tires on, those are HUGE.

DO I Run in Sand?

Do you run yours in the sand a lot?
CSP1971: Well I can run in the sand..I might be out of breath,,LOL::cool2:
As for my firehammer or nitro ..that would be no way...I run the RC Toys on mowed grass or small dirt area...But that is a good question...
Now you take shiny..he is in the sand...Aka Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

Fired UP..But got problems....

Nice now you can go out and have some fun with your Hammer.
Well as stated I installed a alloy intake and new 813 carb..2 pulls on trigger
2 pulls on starter fired right up..had to adjust low side needle a little..Checked
the Rpms with new tac..clutch engaged 8,000 RPM'S...I have a small stand to check things out first...Put firehammer on the ground..pulled the trigger for throttle..Took off like a sculded rabbit for 25 feet and sat there..Pulled the
trigger a couple time got high pitch squeal..tryed to shut down with Tx..No luck
there..So have to check out 3rd channel...Froze bearing on clutch..so down time..tear down..checked clutch out..every thing looks good no damage..
installed new bearing..Back out side for another run..Fired right up 2 pull..
pulled trigger for throttle..took off like bat out hell..got maybe 50 feet..sat
there again..revs all it would do..killed the engine from engine kill switch
Found lay shaft had moved away from the diff gear...Now I did lock tite all the grub screws using blue..
Think I will get new lay shaft, transfer gear, brake block, diff gear,,Those are orig from when got the firehammer...Any suggestions on this....

Broken Again with in 24 Hours

Well I had the firehammer out this morning..Fired right up..let idle a couple minutes
checked out clutch and all seemed ok..couple pulls on the throttle..Put on ground..
Pulled trigger..now that 813 gets with the program right now..Flew down the alley about 25 to 50 feet..Bam loud crack..just like a 22 cal gun going off...Dam not again..I rev'd it
made weird noise..so killed the engine with engine kill switch...So looking down in between the engine and fuel tank lies some metal parts..Now what broke..Seem like I am not ment to have a 1/5 scale..LORD why pick on me!! Enclosed picture..Ya I will keep ya posted to what happened when tear it down again...AKA Slawhammer:(:(

Looks like you have gotten a rock in your Flywheel?

Don't feel bad, it's all cyclical.....for every 10 tanks, there will be at least 3 crappy tanks where something gets screwed up.

I've destroyed my entire diff, dogbones, and cups on my Firehammer MT within the first month of owning it. Talk about buyers remorse for about a week! :)

Thanks for the info..I will be taken a part hope to night ..If not in the morning
cuz every body is gone for the day..Nice to be retired..no body bugs ya...
That screen job looks cool Will be doing that for sure..
Well I didn't see any oil mess on the cassie pan when I found the metal chunks..so I knew not all was real bad...I was expecting to replace the engine...
One of these days I will get to run this and enjoy it..Chit..it will be new again..
I could have bought a real FG for all I have in this now...
Many thanks again....AkA slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

I know what you mean, I was eyeing Woody's FG truck for sale in the marketplace. Thought I could part out my FHMT and get about 500 for it. But after adding it all up, it didn't seem like worth the time.

Yup Good Deal for Woodies FG

I know what you mean, I was eyeing Woody's FG truck for sale in the marketplace. Thought I could part out my FHMT and get about 500 for it. But after adding it all up, it didn't seem like worth the time.[

Csp1971: The way I see it.. I am good for 1 gas truck..So This will be the best
I can do..When done ..About only thing left is chassie pan..as orig.
Ever thing will be up graded and way better the ever built by mfg.
I really don't think I will go back to nitro..possiable will be putting up for sale..
This firehammer will be the money pit....AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

That's what I was thinking as well. I have the ball drive set, alloy diff, and a few other items (new VW body) and just can't really part with it yet. It runs great and drives great. Completely different drive than my Baja...obviously, but I like the looks of it and how it handles.

I was going to sell my nitro (Losi Aftershock) but after realizing I was only going to get about 200 bucks out of it, I decided to keep it. Glad I did because I run it out in front of the house a lot. Better to nail something with a 12 pound truck than a 25 pound truck!

Bad Luck

Sorry to hear about the bad luck Slawhammer. It gets us all once in a while! :nono: I had that happen to my baja a while back and ya it sucked!

Well this firehammer should have wing nuts on it..I have had it apart so many
times in the last 3 weeks..Hell the nuts & bolts are worn out..
Yeah you can bet the screen mod will be done..I will wrap the whole truck in window screen..LOL..Naw just joking...Sure be nice if this forum had a place for tips & tricks..for all brands of RC stuff..But that will never happen..I did get the fly wheel ordered..so by the week end I should be able to get the firehammer out and enjoy it..Thanks for your replies...Love you guys....AkaSlawhammer:2guns::2guns:
EDIT: fly wheel has been shipped today8/26/08
