Screen Project For Engine

Ok here's the new up date:I went to the automotive parts house today and got
the items needed to seal up the air intake on the engine..Enclosed picture..

Got new fly wheel this morning...Going to do the screen mod today ..post pictures

Starter Cover Screen Mod

Ok..I Have now finished the starter screen mod..have to do the engine next

Engine Screen Mod Done

Screen mods are done...Just have to wait for 24 hours for full cure..
So I still have a couple more items to do yet..So now I think I will be able
to run maybe 1 tank of fuel..not just 5 minutes..before some thing else happens..Know the pictures are a little blured..But you get the idea..

Been Busy

Looking good! Great job.

Yup Been rather busy this week with the firehammer..Just enough time
to make up dates what's going on.....So maybe with my misfortune of
breaken fly wheel fins off..some one else will be able to do this screen mod..

Upper Screen Mod

Well looking at the engine ..I noticed a rock could get in the upper part of engine
so I went one step beyond..I did a UPPER SCREEN MOD..Now it would just be my
luck to get another rock..I have had more down time than running...I also did a new
lay shaft,brake block,transfer gear..I have all new gear plate new pinon new spur
gear..new clutch with red spring..so engine and drive train are good now...
Have 48 tooth diff gear coming..also going to replace diff internal gears..
For thr upper screen mod I silaconed screen to the inside of the side covers..the ones
benind the fan cover...Enclosed pictures..AKA Slawhammer:2guns::2guns:

Shiny: Pretty soon I will have every thing replaced...Then I can say I broke it.Just my luck from orig owner on a lot of the stuff that was bad..Now the fly wheel was my fault
for the fins breaking...Cuz I was not aware of rocks getting in there..

Ok Here it is Labor Day..I just finished getting my firehammer back together..
I used blue lock-tite on every grub screw and engine mounts..I know some one will say
should have used RED for engine mounts...But I my have to loosen up the engine again
I have new Rear Diff Gear coming..also new internal diff gears..So I think I will have to
re set the transfer gear and diff gear with paper ..to get gear mesh..My be also if I don't
have any spark..I did set the air gap when replaced the fly wheel...I have more Bling
coming this week...So looks like mid morning before I can start the firehammer..
give the lock-tite time to cure...Thanks for all your replies and help..Just love you guys

Rock Protector

Well The mind has been active this afternoon on the friehammer..So I had another thought
I made a home made rock protector for the rear diff..Seeing how you can buy them for like
40 bucks..Well anyways I was out of screen..So bright lite!!went to the miss's craft box
Yeah just what I need was plastic screen many colors to chose from..Why Not the firhammer needs some color..I shimmed the underside of the screen so the diff gear would not cut a hole..
It should work ok...Enclosed pictures..What do ya think? Aka Slawhammer

Good to hear its running.
I would stay away from the RED Locktight, Stay with the blue.. Always.
You will find that the rear guard you made will help save your diff.
I would also invest in the steel diff cover its worth it, it can be found atDDM.

Look under the FG stuff, as alot of the FG parts fit the hammer.
This is my rear guard I made on both my Hammers.

This is the top cover, It also adds more area to suport the rear end.

For now this will work for me...Well almost running..Need to replace rear diff gear and the internal diff gears..As to SS diff cover I only seen dave's has alum..I know python has them
..And yes I will get a ss cover...Your short caption at the end was a hoot..LOL
No worry there as to me getting things for my truck...My son's so far have got me what I have wanted..Now the miss's she has her own money..to do as she wants for her hobbies..

Since your rebuilding your diff, Get this!!
I ran this in my last Hammer and I will run it in this one.
Use the Hammer internal gears and output shafts, and use this to hold them in..Money very well spent!!!!
Put this in and never worry about the diff again.

A steel pinion works great with the stock plastic spur gear.
The plastic on plastic tend to melt!!!
But keep the spur gear plastic, its a cheep break point.

I have a alloy diff..I came with one ..it is what tower has on there site..the blue one..
I guess I can get by for now and get a better one from dave's later..At the moment I
sorta tapped out both my son's credit cards..They said "hey pop You should be able to run your truck any time now" we just spent 900bucks for parts for ya...It was very nice of them to help me out with my firehammer..This is my pride and joy now this project..
I love to hear from you guys and the great suggestions you all have to share...

3 Wheel Collars Done

Ok..I know some of you guys thought I forgot about the wheel collars..Well it takes
5 to 6 hours to make 1 collar..All hand filed and fitted to wheel..So that's what I have been doing most of the day making a wheel collar..3 done..1 left to do..I hope to have
the last 1 done by the weekend..Cuz I know there have been a couple guys like CSP1971 for one.. wants to see those
big tires mounted on the firehammer..Heck ya ..so do I..yeah a dermel would have been
nice..Maybe my son's will get me one for X-Mas..Enclosed pictures..
