Ok..My mind is wondering again,,what about a 19 tooth gear on the lay shaft for
the transfer..might help..I did get new engine screws and washers..already have
the ally mounts installed..I tried blue last time still came loose..Maybe red this time..
Yeah I know...not good..Still working on a solution for tranny plate also..Ya know I would like to run more than 10 minutes now after all this work...All replies welcome...

Ok..I got some new Bling ordered,,should be here this week end..Alloy steering knuckles
and alloy rear upper arms...Now all my bearings will be in metal..no plastic to hold them for support..That has been my pet peeve for year on bearings..Thanks for your support on my
project..All replies welcome...AKASlawhammer

OK..Another Question..About Radio Systems..Does any one out there use a stick radio?
was thinking this for more channel usage in adding a couple more servos..I have been thinking about front brakes and maybe doing a duel servo for steering....I would love
too here your suggestions and thoughts on this..As the miss's might want to run my nitro truck...I would have to do some thing different for my firehammer...Thanks..
All replies welcome..AKASlawhammer

Honestly, I like stick radios more than pistol grip radios. Futaba sells a 2.4ghz:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSNN8&P=0

Sounds like though, you are wanting a bit more than 3 channels.

I wonder if using an aircraft radio on 2.4 would make any difference (against fcc regs?). Anyone know? That would give you tons of options.

CSP1971:As far as I know about FCC Reg's so long as it meets the freq for usage..
Now Those aircraft radios would allow more choices for different RC Functions of your unit
as to running lights, extra brake or what you might think of...I would like to hear more on this...All Replies welcome...AKASlawhammer
EDIT:I did E-mail Futaba about using a aircraft radio system..
Let's see what they have to say on this subject..

Ok..I got an answer back from Futaba about using a stick radio...For Cars.Trucks,Buggies,
You can use any radio with as many channels as you want as long as it 2.4Ghz..But
remember this is two sticks not a wheel control..So there you have it from the MFG..
So there you have the lastest on that subject..Well got some more BLING today
Fg8484 Alloy Rear Diff....It is very very well made..outer bearings with brass insert
inner pin bearings..should make for smooth transition for inner drive cups...Well
still more BLING to come should have all by week end...All Replies welcome....

..Shiny check it out..save your self some money..Good to hear from ya....

I was suggesting to note the part # only, and by it from any other place.

Ok I got another dumb question on this firehammer...I hate the gas cap thing...Any one try a different tank? Of maybe some kind if quick release cap if one is even made...
Like I mentioned before I will come up with a idea for engine mounts not moving and idea for tranny plate..All replies welcome..AKASlawhammer

What Fites FG tankes Fites the FH.

You can use any radio for any type of RC car. If you have a 2 channel pistol grip to fly a plane if it uses 2 channel that is.

Progress for Up Grades To Firehammer

Shiny: Good to hear from ya..Well are you saying that a FG fuel tank will work for the
Firehammer? Now as to airplanes and transmitters..FCC regs are different from for Air vs
ground..Like in 50 mhz and 75 mhz with crystals..Air now has gone to 2.4Ghz..But there are still some people using the old crystal stuff..Ok now on to the up date..I have installed
the rear Alloy Up Rights..Oh yeah I for got too mention I got some bearings from Fast Eddie
Very high quality bearings...So Now on to the New rear diff...Oh by the way what are you guys using for grease? It was suggested I buy diff grease..I never heard of such..
I was planning on using a high temp automotive bearing grease..Enclosed pictures..
All replies welcome..AKASlawhammer:glare::glare:

Your Right On Bearings

Wheel bearings can be picked up at a skate shop!!!:omg:
High quality for a great price.
Teamchrome:Yes.. your right on the bearings..No skate shop in this town
I would have to go 50 mile to big city..I wanted the rest of the bearings for the firehammer..It would have cost to much to buy each bearing..But thanks on that being skate bearings...Well I am at a work stoppage for now...Damage
stripped out teeth on transfer gear..Think engine moved on chassie..
Also damaged lay shaft..Grooved from grub screws...I did use Blue Lock-tite:p
tighten the heck out of them also....So I have ordered transfer gear and lay shaft...So I guess I can build up the rear diff with the internals and get ready
to install....All I can say is the screen mod did it's job..junk on the chassie
and not the engine..Enclosed Pictures of damage...Thanks for your reply..

Nice new shiny stuff there slawhammer! Since we are supposed to be getting rain over the next several days, I'm thinking if I have time I'll get that stuff you used to seal off your engine from rocks and stuff.

Alloy steering Knuckle

CSP1971: Well they say next 5 days forcast rain..I think I got less than 10 bux for the screen mod..I got the screen and silocone stuff from automotive parts store..the screen is used for body repair..1 pack is enough you get 2 sheets in there..Ok then I got some new
BLING..And CSP1971 this is for you seeing how you asked..Alloy steering knuckle..picture
out of the package..I will post picture when installed on the firehammer...I still should get
1 more package yet today...I did oreder new lay shaft and transfer gear..In fact I got
3 each coming..I am ready for the next time..I am sure that dam engine will slide back
..I will get mad enough to JB Weld it in place...worry later to get apart..
Well the short 10 minutes I got to run it was fun..When taking off the diff there was junk on the chassie but not around the engine..So the screen mod did it job..
Oh Yeah old internal gears are no good..But did save the shims..and old case..
You will find the time to do the screen mod..You can do it in about 1 hour after the engine is out of chassie...Thank for your reply..All Replies welocme..AKASlawhammer

Those are my next replacement when I break my next steering knuckle! I've never had a problem with the gear on the layshaft...yet! I love duratrax, the parts are so cheap it's easy to order a bunch of backups for about 20 bucks.

Think I got it figured out

CSP1971:Well I am going to leave the lower control arms plastic,,need a weak point..Now was too the transfer gear and diff gear..stripping...Where my son and I run at is pretty rough area..that's where it happened..so when I was about to take the rear diff from the chassie I push down on the rear by the very end on the tounge..I could see the gears seporate so that tells me too much chassie flex..I have not checked the engine mounts yet for being loose
If the mounts are still tight then that's the problem..I am going to put a steel brace on under side of the chassie..that should do it..I will keep ya posted
Thanks for your reply..All replies welcome..AKASlawhammer:2guns::2guns:
