I grabbed a large c clamp and baddabing it was done. my hands were just too tired from the wrenching of all the red loktite.

it's back together now. I am going to start it today then pull the motor again to do the screen mod tonight. Just browsing through tower hobbies right now before I go to work. man are firehammer parts cheap. going to order a few things, as I have to be a bit frugal. I can get carried away too easy...

the wrenching part is half the fun. and I got this to hang with the guys that do offroad, so they will get on roads to run with us ;) ... (and I get a fair amount of business from these guys so I don't want to be too fast hehe)
 
Well I need to vent

I ordered a bunch of parts from rcnutshobbies on friday. all items on the site show as in stock. I get an email today that only 1 item was in stock and the rest back ordered to the warehouse. I was sitting at the puter when the email came. I replied to just give me a refund then, as I don't want to wait weeks.... no reply. I went to tower hobbies for the first time and had ordered a bunch of stuff minus the shock tower (since I had ordered one allready)... when I got the email from rcnuts, I called tower and asked if I could add a shock tower to my order and it's allready been shipped!! wow

so since I had discount codes, I put together another $100 order... I paid the big shipping but getting 20 and 30 off my orders almost paid the shipping charge anyway and the stuff will be here between wed and fri (2 different warehouses)

so I have a lot of parts, a firehammer mt body for now (I am still ordering a fg body from sickboy), 2 extra tires and rims, a castle bec, upper and lower arms, pinions, spur, carrier etc etc etc ya baby. stocked up and upgraded a couple things.

later this month I'll get a couple fg difs, but I still need a pipe

what do you guys think of the tgn racepipe? sickboy has one for sale for a decent price on the forum here. it'll be on a cy26 (being given a new head etc from a baja ss)
 
I have used tower many times my self....only once back ordered..and that was 4 days,,,
as for rc-nut I have been screwed by them..2 different times....there off my list...
I will but gro rc-oline before them as last resort....Sounds like you got it together ....
It is a good unit once you do a couple mods to it....slawhammer
 
rcnuts apparently has changed owners. I used to order from them when they were in NY. I see the website says texas now and the paypal was bmi hobbies
 
I got sidetracked with co op board crap. we are applying for a bunch of grants and I am looking into some legal matters (why I was on the puter all day posting between reading pages). I also cleaned our carpets upstairs, it needed it. I am vp on the board and help with maintenance. Maintanence person resigned so I am taking on more duties. We are now discussing a paid position. Good for me if it goes through. I like working without driving...

my tower parts left local delivery at 8am this morning, so I should have most of my stuff here in the next hour or so. very impressive.

as far as rcnuts? well they responded after I sent a letter through paypal dispute. funny how they got offended I started a dispute (I hadn't started the dispute, just sent the letter). well then reply to my email when I reply back minutes after you say stuff isn't in stock, and don't mark items in stock on the website (some items said 4 in stock for example) if you don't have them

now I am waiting for paypal to review the refund!! that's my pipe money. I won't have my semi hubcaps but oh well, next time.

I am waiting for the bec in the tower stuff so I can toss my lipos in. this truck was using aa batteries for the rx pack. I only have lipos for my batteries.

ok so it's down to that mielke pipe or the jp v2 silenced mt pipe

UPS just left 2 boxes at my house. My parts are here. I am amazed!! and only had to pay $15 in taxes. Guess I am wrenching and painting a body now... glad I delayed :D

Hit the canadian tire store, bought a stanley fatmax tool box for my stuff, usual lubes and crap, some gardening stuff etc... plus I got some metal mesh in the bodywork isle that should do the motor screening, jb quick so good to go. took over the kitchen table allready hehe. just put all my goodies and tools in the tool box.... woohoo, no more cardboard boxes.

hell even my gas can fits in the box as the tool tray doesn't cover the whole top. my muffin tin screw seperator is now a plastic clear assorted covered tray. too organized so lots of loose stuff gets tossed in the bottom

and don't expect a fancy paint job from me. those days are long gone. fancy to me is a 3 color fade when trying to use the last of whatever cans I have laying around LOL. I still am ordering one of sickboy's fg bodies... this duratrax one is just for now so I can play this weekend. hmmm orange, silver and black to work with. mostly black. I might add some tattoos and back with silver... see what I have
 
Fancy paint jobs, waste of time. With the way a body on these things can get smashed to hell, no use trying to pretty them up too much.

How do you like that fatmax tool box? It's the one with wheels right?
 
I got the carry type one. It looks like plastic checkerplate and has a waterproof seal. It's nice. I was standing on it so I also have a driver's stand hehe. It fits all my tools, gas can, all my parts.

I did the screen mod Wednesday with the auto screen. Nice stuff. sticky one side so stayed in place to jb weld. young fella that runs with us came over and we did his motor too. did the screen mod inside the pull start too. looks like bling that silver shining through. All the parts got put on.

Yesterday the last couple parts arrived from tower. I worked all day in the sun and came home to watch the taped hockey game, so I cleaned the body, cut it out and masked the windows. have to take the dremmel to it today. Getting a late start today. Still cramped up (took almost an hour to crawl out of bed today, going to buy a gazebo before I go do this job so I have some shade. I drank so much liquids yesterday it's crazy)

Today I got my refund from rcnuts. a week of money tied up for nothing. oh well, now I have my pipe money.

I am with you csp. my last fancy paint job was a hummer body on a tmaxx. I did it up like an army hospital unit. tons of masking and crap. landed a big jump nose up and ripped the back open like a tailgate. I was so choked that I got about 10 mins on that body. Guys here mention my simple paint jobs as I believe now the simple ones stand out more since everyone puts a million colors on. I am using the orange I got for the challenger, experimenting with backing a tattoo with silver and adding a wide single stripe down the middle with a dragon on the hood, and either some barbed wire or a zipper down the side under the orange. it takes seconds to add these tattoos and adds a little something without work. I'll back it all with black to deepen the orange. Body will be painted today/tonight. takes about 30 mins to do a pipe special. well depending how long it takes to dry before adding the water and tattoos ;)

I also picked up some mini flashlights from the dollar store. little led units. 3 in a package, run off a single aa. going to solder a parallel circuit in a 5 pack aa holder and just glue the heads of the flashlights in the fake light things in the bumper and run a wire and plug. the aa holder will fit between the bumper and bulks. I can just plug it it.

I have my camera and tripod in the car so I don't forget it... decided to take the day off. never got in touch with the guy, though it was an up in the air thing anyway.

going to visit the doc shortly and see what he can do for my little finger. the last knuckle behind the nail has been broke so many times detailing, it has this odd lump and hurts 24/7. I just lightly bump it now and it sits like 90 degrees and I straighten and tape it. getting to where I don't even use that finger anymore.

anyway, dremmeling is done, body holes drilled, green dragon on hood, barbed wire down the lower sides. just have to mask a bit around the dragon and back it with silver (wish I had some white but oh well). should be done shortly

sorry to hear about your little finger ..don't sound to good there..any time you hurt or damage a finger..seems like you always bump it..........
What about using Krylon spray paint? that is made for plastic......you may find white for a backer ......Don't forget the clear coat to finish it.....Slawhammer
 
It's done and ready to play with today. Other than the headlights anyway. The dark tattoos worked good under the orange. I did a lazy mask around the dragon and sprayed some silver. I have Krylon clear, but was too lazy to go buy more paint

Tore the one tire apart and reglued the right direction. I remember why I hate recycling tires lol. reglued all the loose beads on the rest.

One front shock is allready empty. same deal as the Duratrax shocks. I paid for my new ebay shocks last night. $24.45 shipped for 4 new shocks is hard to beat. Just ordered my pipe from Oneill's Bros. I'll pick up my headkit today or tomorrow from one of the guys at the track. 26cc will be good enough for me for now.

That's going to be it for this month's spending. Car insurance comes next month and I like to pay a year in one shot. Once I bank the insurance, I can order a front brake kit and look at a couple alloy difs.

Tonight I will dye and glue the 2 new tires. I was using gel type ca to glue the tires and spotting the odd bead with the liquid stuff. I grabbed the wrong bottle on one tire and had a bit of a spill lol. I had to pull the bead back and run it around. kinda made a mess but oh well. Old rims and tires. They don't have the metal rings around the hub and I tore some off some bald on road tires but they won't fit... I'll just order a couple more Duratrax ones next tower order

Now that looks good....you should see it pretty well....I have some Cen shocks as well
I never tried them yet....I am using Fg shocks at the present time....they seem to be ok
any way no leaks that I can see.....But I run on flat ground and no jumps or very little
if at all.......I just don't care for jumps my self....I am more into flat ass wot...

Thanks guys. That's Competition Orange backed with Indy Silver. The side tattoos took a few seconds to apply. The dragon on the hood didn't work out as well but it was a quick experiment. if I had liquid mask and painted that around the dragon it would have been better. I didn't so oh well.

I had a Cen Genesis and the shocks were decent.

I soldered in the castle bec, put my dsm in, and split the 2 3s lipos I had in the semi. each ride has one now. I could run 2 weekends without charging and still have lots left. The balance plug sticks out of the battery box so I can charge without removing.

Just got off the phone. we are running tomorrow and the following weekend is our annual meet and greet picnic, which is being held at this new track this year. It's a lot of fun as all the local forum people get together and see names to faces. we'll have planes, helis, rockets, cars, trucks, drifters, crawlers etc... just about anything hobbywise and scale.

well I reset the carb to factory settings. I am going to fire the engine for the first time shortly
