I don't think there is a point personally.... cheaper to make maybe. Most people, including myself, end up getting skid plates if available to try to help from them getting damaged.

Noticed they are on most aluminum plate style chassis. Just don't know their purpose. The one on XR is huge.

What's the purpose of having an opening under the spur gear? Some of mine do and some don't. Imo, it allows dirt and sand get on top of the chassis and, poss. gears.

depends i recon if you have painted your own .......time spent, bit sad to see it beaten

According to @1Coopgt his 36cc rovan is great, hopefully urs is, I haven't heard that much bad stuff about the 36cc, mostly the 30.5

Yep gear sticks down out of the DBXL like that too I stuck a skid plate on it..

Hate those, mine was a last-day-before- vacation engine, crappy casting and didn't last long

It's worse in the States, we have too many holidays and special events. ?. I wouldn't buy anything that's built after July 4th or Superbowl.
