Hey Guys,

My local hobbyshop sells a Hpi baja 5T with a RCMK TWIN, team chase cage and good stuff, they are asking 1k for it but the motor haven't started for 3 years now. Was running perfectly the last time they fired up. Should it be a good pick up in your opinion or should I be afraid about it ? Hard to find parts for it ?

Do it. 1k isnt even enough to build a baja capable of handling that motor, let alone a whole baja with the motor.

You think parts availability isn't an issue if I need to rebuild to top end or the hole engine ?

I would buy it, send it to obr and have them do their things then you have a beast obr twin Baja build

yeah that engine is pure gold. Id like to say you COULD find top ends but I doubt it. For anyone in the know, is it possible to modify zenoah heads on there?

Obr head kit is zen 28.5 modded heads

I’m not 100% sure but I think the problem is finding the case and crank

too bad its almost impossible to contact him and the site is god awful to surf. Really wanted that dyno but its w/e. His crank can fit?? Thought he was making a case that never got completed.

i would say grab the thing while ya can dude,
as said by the lads above, zen 28.5 top ends will fit either go obr or a bit of machining to do a diy job with stock zen top ends,
pistons should have a relief cut done at the top of em to reduce the heat issue, obr do that themselves but stock pistons would need that tbh,
only other thing is obr modify the crankcases with a custom seal in the centre to separate and seal left side of case from the right,
bottom end parts are available if ya look hard enough for em, but they are gonna be a tad pricy now ,

from waht i've been told and from what i seen on the old version of the american baja forum years ago doug yes ,
it was apparently a big plus that obr did that made the twins run better overall,
could be that they don't do that anymore though, never had mine stripped that far down to see if mine has the seal mod,
i know you've had yours stripped right down though, so you seen the bottom closer than i have in its stripped down state,
mine was built 2016

just had a read up on obr site doug, cant see anything there about the centre seal mod,
i do remember from the old hpi baja forum there was a big discussion about it and some dude that ran the water cooled boat version kept going on about how he gave sean o'neill the info for the seal mod and was a bit arsey about not getting credit for the idea etc ,

never seen the mod myself so i could be wrong about that bit then ,
please don't ask me to strip mine and check cos its only just back in the dragon hammer ,
