Hey yall consider picking up this thing. I want to start a new build and ideally would like to end with a RCMax power unit. I understand that this will end as a $3k+ build but don't want to/ can't drop that kind of money in one go. so that plan will be to upgrade to top tier parts as they break or I get bored. for the price ($460 all in) I believe this would be my best bet, but obviously I'm a dummy so i'd like to get the groups input.

that's my same thought process. Every original Baja is either extremely molested, has tasteless upgrades or $1100+.I mean, it can't be worse than my Baja. Go for it, hpi doesn't really exist anymore so I cant say support the original creator ?
That is a pretty big thing to think about too.
What figment issues did you have? Anything that a hammer or a dremel couldn’t fix?
My integy transmission didnt fit what so ever (probably the same for the tr, seeing as though both are made for the HPI). Had to Dremel the chassis out, top plate didn't fit after that (a good 4-5mm off) , flm axles didnt fit in the diff at all , rovan difff didn't fit in that transmission case without feking with it.Mouldings are a bit off so holes don't line up .....or diif wont go into a tr case..... coop and Zed both had different problems ??
If come to expect some modifications with parts. I had to grind down my tr chassis braces when I bought the rcmax chassis. Two common brands that just didn’t fit together. I’m not too bothered by it. I'd personally wait to see if u can get an original Baja because of the fitment bs, way bigger Issue than just simply grinding summin down sometimes. Rovan is a last resort imo, btw don't buy a purple first gen. They are shite.
yeah I hear you did you upgrade slowly or all in one shot? im not big on huge elaborate builds right away I like to build slowly as things break or when I get big influxes of cash
I would. I'd like to fix all his fiddlestick ups and show him what that thing can do in the right hands
Well , few days/weeks it will be on eBay so if you want it , buy it ? I'm no newb to bajas, most of it's problems are from it not being durable enough, not me half assing it.
